I have been told that Fine Arts Night was a huge success and am so sorry I was unable to be with you all to experience the joy that our talented students bring to our school. I did have the opportunity to see all of their art work, and hear them at rehearsal, so I know how impressive they are. Thank you all for coming and for supporting our students and the arts!
Our soon to be new pastor, Father Riley Williams visited our school this past week. He toured the facility, visited classrooms, and even prayed the Recess Rosary with students at the Fatima statue. Fr. Williams is very much looking forward to and is quite enthusiastic about becoming part of our school family. We will give him a warm welcome in July, and he will help us opening our doors on August 29th!
Our National Honor Society members had a very successful Dress Down Day Fundraiser this week, as our students wore "Blue for Two" (dollars that is!) The group raised $530 for Mary's Meals, an international organization that addresses world hunger.
Nice work, NJHS!
We had the pleasure of having Fr. Leonard to offer school mass for the Solemnity of the Ascension on Thursday, and he had great compliments for our students as well. Mass was beautiful and students were so reverent, respectful and knowledgeable as Fr. Leonard posed many questions about the virtues and Jesus ascending back to heaven. The liturgy was slightly bittersweet, as it was also the final school Mass for our 8th graders! Over the next few weeks, there will be many events in a "series of lasts" as our eldest students experience the end of their time here at SFX. There were already a few tears in the eyes of a couple of our 8th graders as they placed their robes on for a photo opportunity on Thursday afternoon. God bless the Class of 2017!
The end is nigh, and we have just a few weeks to maintain a sense of educational purpose without the excitement overtaking us! Please encourage your child(ren) to study hard, behave appropriately all while having faith-filled fun!
