San Gabriel, CA
On May 13, 2019, a final arrest was made in a case involving witness intimidation from several San Gabriel gang members. Upon investigation, a total of three “Sangra” gang members were arrested after formulating a plan to intimidate a witness.
A witness initially observed Anthony “Knuckles” Pelliccino, 29, commit a crime and reported the incident to the San Gabriel Police Department. Days later, Pelliccino approached the witness and threatened the individual by claiming the area belonged to the “Sangra” gang and that the gang was going to resolve the matter.
In jail-recorded conversations, Pelliccino orchestrated a plan with Jennifer Duran, 31, of San Gabriel to solicit Sangra gang member Sergio “Yogi” Diaz, 39, of San Gabriel and Franklin “Machete” Orellana, 30, of Alhambra to dissuade the witness from testifying. Upon learning about the conspiracy, San Gabriel detectives arrested the co-conspirators. Working with prosecutors from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, San Gabriel detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant for the three suspects in connection with the investigation.
“We take the safety of our community seriously,” said San Gabriel Police Department Police Chief Gene Harris. “The department will make every attempt to protect community members, businesses, and those reporting criminal activity. We will be relentless in our pursuit of mitigating crime in San Gabriel. This case exemplifies the great working relationship the San Gabriel Police Department has with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.“
Jennifer Duran and Sergio Diaz have been arraigned with a bail set at $1,000,000. Anthony Pelliccino and Franklin Orellana each have a bail of $200,000. Duran, Diaz, Pelliccino and Orellana are in custody at the Los Angeles County Jail.
