Upcoming I-84 Closures between Garrity (Exit 38) and Ten Mile (Exit 42) Interchanges next Weekend (Jan. 16-19)

The Idaho Transportation Department will set girders for the future I-84/SH-16 System Interchange. Eastbound I-84 will be closed all weekend between the Garrity (Exit 38) and Ten Mile (Exit 42) interchanges.


This closure will allow crews to install 16 girders for the first flyover ramp. Each girder weighs approximately 42,000 pounds and averages around 117 feet long.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Friday, Jan. 16 - Monday, Jan. 19

Eastbound I-84 Closures


  • Eastbound I-84 will be closed at the future State Highway 16 interchange.
  • Only two lanes of I-84 traffic will exit and re-enter using the new ramps. See detour map.
  • Eastbound closures will take place starting Friday (Jan. 16) at 10 p.m. and continue until Monday (Jan. 19) at 5 a.m.


Westbound I-84 Closures

  • Westbound I-84 will be reduced to two lanes each night.
  • All westbound lanes will be open during the day.


Ongoing nighttime lane restrictions on eastbound and westbound I-84 will continue through March. At least two lanes will remain open overnight.
