Paving work on I-84 begins next week!

At a Glance:

Impact: Nighttime lane closures on I-84

Where: I-84 between Ten Mile (Exit 42) and Garrity (Exit 38) interchanges

When: Work begins Tuesday, June 9

What: Paving work

Starting Tuesday, June 9, ITD will resurface I-84 between Ten Mile (Exit 42) and Garrity (Exit 38) interchanges.


Crews will remove the current surface of

the roadway and pave a new layer of asphalt.

What to expect:

  • Speed limit will be reduced
  • Two lanes of traffic will remain open on I-84.
  • Work will take place Monday night through Saturday night.
  • All work will be completed at night.


Monday - Thursday nights:

  • Eastbound I-84
  • 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Westbound I-84
  • 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.


Friday and Saturday nights:

  • Eastbound I-84
  • 10 p.m. - 6 a.m.
  • Westbound I-84
  • 11 p.m. - 10 a.m.


Single lane closures will begin at 7 p.m.

This work will extend the life of the pavement.

Repaving is scheduled to be completed this summer.

What is Mill and Inlay?

Mill and inlay work is a road rehabilitation process where crews:

  • Grind down the top layer of the existing roadway
  • Pave the top surface to fill holes
  • Add a layer of asphalt to seal and protect the roadway
