Today's FAQ:
How long has it been since a new highway was built in the Treasure Valley?
To our knowledge, it has been over 40 years since a new major section of highway was built in the Treasure Valley. Throughout the early 1900s and leading up to the 1980s, Idaho built many of the highway systems that you see throughout the state today. By the late 1980s, highway construction tapered and it was called the “beginning of the end of construction for Idaho’s interstate system.” Moving forward, focus was placed on the maintenance, repairs and improvements of the infrastructure already in place. Some of the last major highway projects in the late '80s and early '90s included the US-95/ID-55 corridor, US-20 from Mountain Home to Ashton, US-30 from McCammon to the Wyoming State Line, and US-12. ITD is excited to be building this new project to meet the needs of modern growth and serve hundreds of thousands of motorists for many years to come.
