New traffic pattern begins Thursday, Dec. 11

We heard you! ITD has rephased the project so two lanes on SH-44 can be opened! A traffic shift will occur on Wednesday night, Dec. 10 to allow two lanes in each direction on SH-44 to be opened for your morning and evening commute.

Here's what to expect:


  • Shift will occur between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.


  • Nighttime flagging will take place as crews shift traffic to the south.


  • The speed limit will be reduced.

The traffic shift will allow crews to work on the north side of SH-44 and build the new ramps. View a map of the new traffic pattern.



During this work:



  • SH-44 will be reopened to two lanes in each direction between SH-16 and Short Road.


  • Two left turns on SH-16 heading east on SH-44 will be reopened.


  • SH-16 will remain one lane in each direction south of SH-44.


  • The speed limit on SH-44 is reduced to 45 mph.
