Dear SHA Family,
We are reaching a milestone in the school year – Winter Break.
Here is what I am thinking about;
1. I’ve seen a number of articles on teacher and admin burn out and exhaustion from the pandemic --- So, so appreciative of SHA Leadership Team, staff and teachers.
2. I’ve heard horror stories about parent communities divided and the spewing of unsavory speech and behavior. I am grateful for our community.
3. I have been teaching 5th Grade Navi – Prophets. The absolute joy of the week. Bottom line; there is nothing as poignant, significant and real as the experience of teaching. This I believe.
4. Did you notice? We have a phenomenal Development – ie fundraising team here at SHA. Led by Benjamina Menashe – we are so appreciative of our Development Committee volunteers – Scott Michelson, Chair, and his committee including Judy Findley, Lea Lipman, and Elizabeth Sytman.
5. SHA has a highly functional, lofty-minded, mission driven Board led by the indefatigable, skillful and idealistic Naomi Newman –let’s appreciate them.
6. Finally, so pleased that we have Rabbi Benjy Owen coming on board next year as our new Head of School. He and I are already creating a transition plan together with the help of a consultant – making sure that SHA continues steadily and consistently in all planning for the upcoming years ahead.
Wishing everyone a restful and restorative Winter Break!
SHAbbat SHAlom,
Rivy
