Introducing Hartman @ Home - Judaism, Citizenship and Democracy
October 18 - 30, 2020
Two weeks of Jewish learning during the 2020 election season

Between the end of Sukkot and Election Day, the Hartman Institute will kick off their Hartman@Home fall learning with a two-week symposium that will bring calm and reason -- along with passion and insight -- to the key civic issues facing the Jewish community today.

Join us as we bring a Jewish lens to the civic obligations, issues, and leadership needed in this moment of global pandemic and unprecedented polarization.
Highlights of the 2-week symposium leading up to the US elections:
  • Lila Corwin Berman will discuss how she sees money shaping the community in her new book, The American Jewish Philanthropic Complex
  • Mijal Bitton will consider how to cultivate truth and trust in the age of Twitter
  • Avi Helfand will lead a discussion on American Jewish advocacy for religious liberty
  • Eitan Hersh will discuss how we can use our time more constructively for democracy, whatever our beliefs, the subject of his book on “political hobbyism”
  • Plus opportunities to learn with Dahlia Lithwick, Tomer Persico, Christine Hayes, Elana Stein Hain, Rivka Press Schwartz and a special opening keynote on October 19 with Yehuda Kurtzer
  • And much more to be announced over the next two weeks!
