To help slow down the spread of the virus, Mayor Stephen Terrell issues a Declaration of Local Disaster for Public Health Emergency in cooperation with Collin County and neighboring cities including Plano, Frisco and McKinney.  Read the declaration.
Wednesday, March 18

(2:00 p.m.)
Mayor Stephen Terrell issues an Emergency Order that serves as an amendment to the original declaration closing bars, gyms and theaters and limits restaurants to take-out, delivery, drive-in or drive-through service only. The order which begins at 11 p.m. March 19, 2020, also recommends that gatherings be limited in accordance with guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Texas Governor Greg Abbott issues statewide guidelines on dine-in restaurant service, social gatherings in groups of 10 or more, gyms and massage parlors and nursing home visits through April 3.  Read the full Executive Order.

Collin County confirmed one case of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in Allen. He is a 46-year-old man with an underlying health condition who is currently hospitalized.

(6:30 p.m.)
Allen City Council unanimously votes to extend the disaster declaration of public health emergency "until terminated" at a public meeting held Thursday evening. Texas Disaster Act requires Council action to continue the original declaration within 7 days of being signed by Mayor Stephen Terrell on Monday, March 16. The extension includes the emergency order added on March 18. Details.

For this reason, all City services will be handled by phone, email, online and in-person by appointment only.
