SHARING OUR STORIES AT CONVENTION

You Can Still Share at a Virtual Convention

While you are seated at home with your coffee cup at your elbow, you will still have the opportunity to listen to other cottage community delegates and also to pose questions.

Here are the folks you will be hearing from:

  1. The RV of TURTLE VIEW will describe how neighbouring communities came together to create the 41st resort village in Saskatchewan - the obstacles they had to overcome to establish themselves as a new self-governing community.
  2. The OH of PASQUA LAKE will list all the hoops through which they have had to jump in order to qualify for a similar transition to becoming a resort village.
  3. The RV of COTEAU BEACH will share their long history of establishing a vibrant recreational community (fund raising, building a community centre, fostering events).
  4. The RV of LUMSDEN BEACH will prove that having one of the smallest tax bases has not stopped them from offering most services found in larger communities.
  5. The RV of ISLAND VIEW demonstrated that they could work together to revitalize an old boat launch into a modern asset in their village.
  6. The RM of the DISTRICT of LAKELAND successfully set out to establish a global environmental bylaw that would protect their several lakes equally.
  7. Although many resort villages have newsletters, the RV of MANITOU BEACH offers a newsletter with much varied content and an array of involved producers.
  8. The RV of CANDLE LAKE has demonstrated the advantages of hiring a safety officer to work with Council to ensure that both provincial laws and village bylaws are followed.
  9. Our PARCS PRESIDENT will speak to cottage communities through the lens of an RM councillor - noting issues like campgrounds in cottage communities and recreational vehicles parked on cottage lots.
