A Note from the CEO & Co-Founder

As we step into June, I am still reflecting on the incredible success and impact of our 16th Annual Women’s Conference on May 19th. What an extraordinary day it was—filled with inspiration, empowerment, connection, and celebration.

From our dynamic speakers and engaging panel discussions to the meaningful networking and heartfelt moments shared throughout the day, this year’s conference truly reminded us of the power that exists when women come together with purpose and intention. The energy in the room was undeniable, and the feedback we received afterward affirmed just how special the experience was for so many in attendance.

One attendee shared that the event was “beautifully organized, uplifting, and a powerful reminder of the importance of women supporting and celebrating one another.” Another expressed appreciation for the “thought, care, and intention that went into creating such a meaningful experience for everyone in attendance.” Comments like these deeply touch my heart because they reflect the very mission and spirit of Women of Prince George’s.

To our speakers, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, members, and every attendee who joined us—thank you. Your presence, participation, and continued support help us create spaces where women feel seen, valued, encouraged, and inspired to grow personally and professionally.

As we move forward into the summer season, we remain committed to building community, creating opportunities, and uplifting the voices and accomplishments of women throughout Prince George’s County and beyond.

With gratitude and purpose,

Stephanie Bolton James

Biggest Win Since Connecting with WPG

One of my greatest personal and professional wins has been stepping away from a 21-year career with a former employer to take charge of my own happiness and well-being. While embracing change can be intimidating, I am proud that I chose faith over fear and prioritized my peace and fulfillment. Today, I feel happier, more aligned, and excited about the future.

New Initiatives & Community Impact

I recently launched The Seymour Love Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting young people throughout the DMV who are pursuing higher education at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). This spring, we proudly launched our scholarship fund to begin investing in the next generation of leaders.

In addition, I am honored to begin teaching at the University of the District of Columbia this fall. Both opportunities reflect my passion for giving back, empowering others, and creating pathways for future success within our community.

How WPG Inspires Me

I continue to be inspired by Stephanie Bolton James’s vision for Women of Prince George’s and the powerful space she has created for connection, collaboration, and opportunity. Every WPG event leaves me feeling re-energized and encouraged. Knowing that this supportive and empowering community exists has given me the confidence to be even bolder in my own career journey.

Why WPG Matters to Entrepreneurs

Women of Prince George’s is an incredible resource for women entrepreneurs. I especially appreciated the candid panel discussions where business owners openly shared both their successes and challenges. The networking opportunities within the organization are unmatched, and in just a few hours, I gained valuable insight into the many thriving businesses within Prince George’s County.

What Makes WPG Unique

Prince George’s County is special because of its strong economic foundation and vibrant African-American community. WPG creates a welcoming and empowering environment where Black and brown women in business can feel supported, celebrated, and uplifted as they grow professionally and personally.

Supporting One Another

I look forward to continuing to support WPG by sharing its impactful initiatives and community events through local media and my own platforms. Likewise, I am grateful for opportunities to remain engaged with WPG events and to share updates about the work and mission of The Seymour Love Foundation.

Entrepreneur Tip of the Month

Focus Area

Scaling & Automation

Key Tips: calling your business does not mean doing more on your own—it means building smarter systems that allow your business to grow efficiently and sustainably. Streamline your operations by utilizing tools that simplify communication, scheduling, project management, invoicing, and customer follow-up. Delegate tasks that do not require your direct attention so you can focus on leadership, strategy, and growth.

Automation can help reduce repetitive tasks, improve consistency, and save valuable time, allowing you to work smarter instead of harder. When the right systems are in place, you create more space for innovation, client relationships, and long-term success.

Small Business Spotlight

Biggest Win Since Your Last Engagement with WPG

What began as a commercial cleaning business has evolved into a specialized service helping seniors and individuals living in cluttered environments reclaim safe, healthy living spaces through Southern Belle Cleaners' extreme decluttering services.

Inspired by the "Think Bigger" message shared by a keynote speaker at last year's Women of Prince George’s Conference, founder Emmalyne Head expanded the company’s vision and services. Today, Southern Belle Cleaners is growing its reach as an insurance-approved de-hoarding vendor, partnering with insurance providers to help more residents safely age in place and maintain healthier homes.

New Initiatives and Advocacy Efforts

After helping transform more than 300 homes, Emmalyne recognized the need for practical guidance and encouragement for individuals beginning their decluttering journey. Her upcoming workbook, Change Your Space, Change Your Story, will provide actionable tips and motivation for those ready to take the first step toward a more organized life.

In addition, Emmalyne has launched quarterly in-person business meetups designed specifically for aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs. These gatherings provide a judgment-free environment where participants can openly discuss challenges, celebrate wins, and build meaningful connections.

The Impact of WPG on My Journey

Introduced to Women of Prince George’s by her mentor, Valerie Dock, who sponsored her first conference registration, Emmalyne recalls being inspired by the room full of accomplished and ambitious women. Since then, WPG has remained a nurturing community that provides encouragement, knowledge, and opportunities for growth alongside experienced professionals and fellow entrepreneurs.

Why WPG Matters to Entrepreneurs

Women of Prince George’s offers valuable educational programming and conversations that address the real-world issues impacting women entrepreneurs. Through webinars, events, and networking opportunities, WPG continues to provide resources that help women grow personally and professionally.

Upcoming Milestones and Collaborations

Following her appearance as a panelist at the 2026 Women of Prince George’s Conference on the panel "Let's Get Organized, Let's Get It Done," Emmalyne and fellow panelists Hyacinth Tucker and Jakia Muhammad are taking their collaboration to the next level. The trio is preparing to launch a new podcast where they will share candid conversations about entrepreneurship, organization, personal growth, and balancing business with everyday life. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting new venture!

How Can the WPG Community Support Your Work?

Emmalyne values the role Women of Prince George’s plays as a dedicated support system for women throughout the county. As many women entrepreneurs and professionals navigate changing workplace and business landscapes, organizations like WPG remain essential in providing resources, advocacy, connections, and opportunities that empower women to succeed. She encourages the community to continue supporting and engaging with organizations that invest in the growth and advancement of women.
