A Note from the CEO & Co-Founder

May is here—and with it comes incredible momentum at Women of Prince George’s!

We are in full preparation mode for our 16th Annual Women’s Conference, thoughtfully curating an engaging agenda and program for what promises to be an inspiring experience at the beautiful Newton White Mansion. We are especially excited about our dynamic lineup of speakers and the powerful conversations ahead.

In partnership with FSC First, we are also launching our three-session small business workshop series, Success & Mindset, designed to equip entrepreneurs with the tools, clarity, and confidence to grow and thrive.

We are also hosting another three-session series, Thrive: Confidence Under Pressure — Navigating Self-Doubt, Visibility & Comparison, presented by Dr. Keisha L. Mack.

And of course, we continue building connections through our May 29th Dine Around.

There’s a lot happening this month, and we hope you’ll join us.

Small Business of the Month

Lori Y. Russell, WTS

Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner | Board Certified Trichologist

One of my biggest wins since speaking at a Women of Prince George’s event has been the continued connection and impact that came from that room. Over the past two years, I’ve had the opportunity to support several women who attended the event and were quietly struggling with hair loss. Helping them understand the underlying causes—not just the cosmetic symptoms—has been incredibly rewarding and reaffirmed how much education and awareness are still needed.

New Initiatives and Advocacy Efforts

I have become more intentional about educating women on the root causes of hair loss through consultations that include deeper analysis, such as bioscans, blood chemistry, and intolerance testing. This allows me to advocate for a more holistic approach to hair and scalp health. I have also expanded my outreach within the veteran community as an approved VA vendor for cranial prosthetics, helping individuals experiencing medical hair loss access customized solutions that restore confidence and dignity.

Impact of WPG on Your Journey

WPG has provided meaningful opportunities for connection, visibility, and collaboration. Being surrounded by women who are building, leading, and supporting one another has reinforced the power of community and opened doors to relationships that have directly impacted my business growth.

Why WPG Is a Resource for Entrepreneurs

WPG is more than networking—it is a supportive ecosystem where women share knowledge, experiences, and opportunities. For entrepreneurs, that kind of community is essential for both personal and professional growth.

Upcoming Milestones or Collaborations

I am continuing to expand collaborations with healthcare professionals and wellness practitioners to provide more comprehensive care for clients facing hair loss and underlying health concerns. I also look forward to deepening partnerships with organizations like WPG to continue education and outreach.

How the WPG Community Can Support

The WPG community can support my work by sharing information, referring individuals experiencing hair loss or scalp concerns, and helping raise awareness for those who may be suffering in silence. I also welcome opportunities to speak, educate, and collaborate.

Biggest Win Since Your Last Engagement with WPG

Since her last engagement with WPG, Delegate Denise G. Roberts has experienced a highly productive season. Business Dilemma Scenario

A Business Dilemma: Scenario for Group Exercise

Every month, we present a realistic workplace challenge. After reading it aloud, have participants discuss:

  • What’s the core issue?
  • What are the possible actions?
  • What are the risks and consequences?
  • What would they do and why?

Endless Rescheduling

Rupert keeps rescheduling a meeting about an urgent issue—week after week—for 12 weeks

_______

💬 Discussion Prompt: How do you hold people accountable? What’s the cost of indecision?

🧠 Suggested Answer to Business Dilemma Scenario

Answer: The team should escalate the issue, clarify urgency, and set a firm deadline. If Rupert can’t commit, someone else should take ownership.
