MAY 2023 MONTHLY LETTER

Some leaders have forgotten why they were called into ministry. The Lord wants to remind them today of their responsibilities as ministers.

Ephesians 4:11-14 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting.

This text tells us the job description of the fivefold ministry, to equip, prepare and to build the church. Not to tear down, use and abuse the body of Christ like some are doing. Jesus is the head of the church, and He is not pleased with the way some are misleading His sheep.

John 10:11-12 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. 12 But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them.

Jesus is the good shepherd. Many were called by the Lord, but because of their selfishness, they are looking after themselves, taking advantage of the sheep and not shepherding them. Meaning, they are just entertaining them, not feeding them with the truth.

These shepherds are making followers after themselves and not disciples for Jesus, and because they are not making disciples, the people that follow them cannot accomplish their calling and purpose of God for their lives.

Remember, Jesus called those who do not protect the sheep hireling, because they only care about material things and to rule over them.

Luke 22:24-27 Now there was also a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest. 25 And He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’ 26 But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves. 27 For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves.

Learn from your master, the true shepherd, feed and lead the sheep!

Ezekiel 34:1-10 And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 2 “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God to the shepherds: “Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks? 3 You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you slaughter the fatlings, but you do not feed the flock. 4 The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost; but with force and cruelty you have ruled them. 5 So they were scattered because there was no shepherd; and they became food for all the beasts of the field when they were scattered. 6 My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and on every high hill; yes, My flock was scattered over the whole face of the earth, and no one was seeking or searching for them.”
