SPORTS NEWS:
 
National Signing Day: 
Congratulations to Kenny Foster, Jaclyn Santiago, and Choying O'Brien for signing letters of intent! Kenny signed with the University of Wyoming to play basketball, Jaclyn signed a letter of intent with Colorado Mesa University to dive, and Choying signed a letter of intent with Western State University to pole vault. Well deserved for these outstanding student-athletes. 

Cheers After finishing 3rd at leagues the cheers will compete at State, at the Denver Coliseum, on December 7th at 1:16 PM. The team finished 6th in state last year and have been a contender in all of the competitions they have entered this year. Poms The Poms will compete at State on Saturday at 9:30 AM, also at the Coliseum. The girls have shown steady improvement this year and recently received a bid to nationals with their performance.  Boys' Basketball Boys' basketball opens their season at George Washington this Monday night at 7:00 PM. The team made it to the final 8 last year and is hoping to continue to make strides. You can see them at home on Wednesday night and then at Chaparral next week for a tournament. Girls' Swim & Dive The lady water buffaloes are excited about getting in the water. They open at always tough Arapahoe and then host Denver East on Saturday. The girls are always a top 15 team in state and put on a great performance every time they are in the pool. Girls' Basketball Girls' basketball is hoping to get off to a good start with two games this week and a tournament at Fairview next week. This is a very young team that works extremely hard and will improve with each week of the season. Wrestling The grapplers open their season at Cherokee Trail on Thursday before heading to Arapahoe for a tournament on Saturday. The team hopes to add to one returning state tournament competitor. This program is growing and growing and making great gains.

AP EXAM REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN:
Students taking AP exams at Smoky Hill High School must register for exams here by February 1st, 2019 to avoid late fees. For the 2019 AP Exams, the cost is $95. Registration is on your student's Naviance page.

All State Choir Members - Congratulations to 10 Smoky Hill All State Choir Members: Amber Beuiston (Treble), Lindsay Cann (Treble), EmilieAnn Dutcher (Treble), Annalise Gray (Treble), Laurel Grosz (Treble), Jeremy Tang (Tenor/ Bass), Christina Detwiler (Mixed Choir), Darin Schneider (Mixed Choir & Mixed Jazz), Simon Blanco (Tenor/Bass Jazz) and Jeremy Tang (Mixed Jazz). An additional congratulations to Jim Techau and Darren Wirth on the success of their students!

BUFFS ARE SO GENEROUS:
Thanksgiving Project Miracle Minute - Smoky Hill raised over $1,500 in one minute last week! Amazing. All of the money will go towards purchasing food for members of the Smoky Hill community for Thanksgiving. Marci Delimont and Laura Buddington had their classes donate the most money and were the winners of breakfast burritos last week. Thank you to Brenda Bowker and Sarah Watts for all of their hard work in running our annual Thanksgiving Meal Project.

Buff Bingo!!!!  The rumor is true!!! The Smoky Hill PTCO will be hosting it's first Bingo in the Smoky Hill Cafeteria on Sunday, December 2nd at 2:30PM.  The plan is to host a bingo on the first Sunday of each month going forward.  Help Smoky Hill PTCO raise money.  Play bingo and more for a chance to win money and prizes.  Proceeds support Smoky Hill Classroom Stimulus fund.  If you would like to volunteer, please contact us at shhsptco.org for more details.
