This is the July 2016 issue of "Kesher: Community Connections," a member newsletter that shares the programs and news of SHJ communities and the movement.

NEW RESOURCE AVAILABLE FOR AFFILIATES AND MEMBERS

The SHJ has completed the first phase of a very long term project to make sheet music available to our affiliates for celebrational and commemorative use. There are now more than 100 songs available in clearly notated sheet music.

Some pieces are also available in a midi format (Musical Instrument Digital Interface). The midi format allows one to hear the basic "tune" of the song, one note at a time.

SHJ thanks the Association of Humanistic Rabbis for the grant that enabled the notation.  SHJ Rabbi, Miriam Jerris coordinated the project, compiled the music and completed the Table of Contents. We are so pleased to make it available to you now.

The Table of Contents is available here.

The musical pieces by first letter of the English or transliterated song title are here.

Please remember that the music and the lyrics may be under copyright protection and cannot be published, sold, copied or distributed beyond those who need it to perform the music. Music books cannot be made using the sheet music for distribution to those attending programs.

We hope that you will let the music and ceremonial people in your communities know of this resource. We do have other music available in our office so if you are looking for a particular song, please let Rabbi Jerris know.
