Common Sense - January 10, 1776
Brian Long, who is a practiced Thomas Paine re-enactor will join Vashon250 to help us understand the significance of his pamphlet Common Sense and the impact it had at this troubled time of the Revolutionary War. Throughout American history there have been similar impassioned pleas, and as we confront the crises of our contemporary time, we need similar calls to action. Vashon has also responded to crises with both words and actions during World War II, with the Jigsaw Plan in the 1960s, the Bradley vs ASARCO case in the 1980s, the Glacier Battle of the 2000s, and the rise of Indivisible Vashon in the 2020s.
