My girl Josephine will be at my front door looking for the glory of love. And a paperback writer will try and make the world go away. Alex Craighead—Supporting the Journey from Boys to Men
Journeymen was born from a question that echoed in the hearts of two friends: What is happening to our boys? In 2016, Alex Craighead and Nicky Wilks set out to create what they felt was missing: a village, a rite of passage, and a path forward.
Sally talks with Alex about the evolution of Journeymen, the personal journey that brought him back to his childhood roots on Vashon Island, and the organization’s exciting plans for expansion.

Wednesday, Noon - 2 PM Sunday, 10 AM - Noon
We welcome Kat Eggleston back as co-host of the show after her triumph on stage at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. In August we play something from the Celtic music acts that are coming to VCA in the future: Skerryvore (October 11, 2026), Julie Fowlis (February 3, 2027) and Lunasa (March 18, 2027).
We kick things off with some Uilleann piping from Tiarnan O Duinnchinn, followed by Niamh Parsons song of the wren to celebrate Kat’s new play “The Wren” (http://ghostboattheater.org/upcoming-events/) which will be performed at the O Space on August 28, 29, 30.
We play some music from David Munnelly, Caitlin Warbelow, Maria Dunn, the Victoria Police Pipe Band, and Calum Armstrong, whose playing of the aulos is featured in the soundtrack to Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey.” Thanks for listening and supporting VoV.

Atmospheric Rivers
Saturday, 9-11 PM
The Psychedelic States of America, Vol. 2
Atmospheric Rivers' observance of America's 250th continues...Three years ago, we opened a door into America's lost psychedelic underground. It's still open. We'll step back through for a second round of obscure American 60s bands: private-press rarities, and songs that time — and radio — mostly forgot. Artists will include Kak, Merrill Fankuaser and HMS Bounty, The Zakary Thaks, The Third Bardo, Ultimate Spinach, The .C,A, Quintet, The Peanut Butter Conspiracy, The Rising Storm, and more forgotten patriots of fuzz and feedback. Tune in (this Saturday), turn on, and drop out!
