The Great Seattle-to-Tacoma Burger Quest
On a cloudless night, one man set off from Ballard to Tacoma – deciding the only thing standing between him and a good burger was nearly forty miles of walking, two ferry rides, and an alarming amount of time alone with his thoughts.
Meet Neal, a local Redditor who embarked on what he calls Burger Quest — this year, his 4th annual pilgrimage, which starts at The Sloop Tavern in Ballard and ends all the way at Frisko Freeze in Tacoma.
Now, KVSH’s Classic Rock and Beyond Weird News team is thrilled to bring you an exclusive interview with the legend himself, Neal, to learn more about his epic annual quest.

Pie Season
It's pie season! Well, what season is NOT pie season? But this Thanksgiving week, no matter what your taste, pie is probably on the menu. In this week's episode, co-hosts Linda Nygaard and Tom Conway will share some favorite pie recipes, divulge a couple of secrets to making an excellent pie, and will tell you a story or two about pie. Also on the menu are some tried and true side dishes, some new twists on old favorites, and a story or two about favorite Thanksgiving menus and maybe even some calamities that have happened in their kitchens. And, just to be sure, in case you are not a pie aficionado, they will offer one or two alternative desserts that will have your guests drooling even before the main course is served. So, pull up a chair, sip something good, and give a listen as these two lively personalities regale you with stories, recipes, ideas, and general kitchen capers. You'll be glad you did!

The Three Amigos Scramble
Wednesday, 9 AM - Noon
Where wit gets weird and weird gets airtime!
Sick of safe, snoozy radio? Buckle up. Rick Ames, Luke McQuillin and Dr. Steven Nourse are back in the saddle, galloping through parody, pointed rants, and musical mayhem. It’s satire with a side of sass, harmony with a hint of havoc, and just enough truth to make you squirm.
From tech addiction tangos to bureaucratic ballads, multitasking meltdowns to Seinfeld showdowns, we serve up the strange, the sharp, and the “Wait… did they actually say that?”
Regular chaos includes:
- Stump the Stupe - our trivia rodeo of the ridiculous
- A sit-down with Lily and Tom from Vashon’s Mobile Integrated Health Unit from Vashon Fire & Rescue. Yes, we do serious too!
- Another enlightening interview with Allie Maki Maya of the Vashon Center for the Arts, “What’s new for the Holidays at VCA?”
- And our most solemn segment yet - Seinfeld Trivia.
So tune in, laugh out loud, and let your expectations scramble like eggs on a rollercoaster.

Wednesday, noon-2 PM
November Irish
In November we start things off with Richard Thompson’s classic, “Vincent Black Lightening”, in honor of our good friend Cindy Hoyt. We then play St. Lawrence O’Toole Pipe Band’s 2025 medley performed at the World Championships last August, followed by a track from Keltoi, who will be performing at the Episcopal Church on December 4th. We are sad to report that Archie Fisher, the Scottish folk singer who defined the genre for a generation, has shifted from this mortal coil. We played “Will Ye Gang Love.” Brian Conway, the Irish fiddler from Brooklyn, performed recently on the island, so we played a troika of jigs from his classic CD. Breabach comes next with a set of Scottish reels. This month’s cover is Hay Son Bros’ Gaelic cover of “Bad Romance,” which we follow with Blowzabella’s “Horizonto.” We finish out the program with Johnny Flynn’s ‘Churlish May,’ Carnonos’ ‘Twa Recruiting’ Sergeants,’ a poem from Leslie Norris, ‘Autumn Elegy,’ and Scared Ketchup’s “No Kings 2.0”. Thanks for listening and thanks for your support

Boogie Back to Texas
Wednesday, 6-7 PM Thanks-giving
Join Boogie Back host Geoff Fletcher as he tees up his annual Thanks-giving show where you will hear songs about thanking and giving, and we all ought to do more of each. This one is even more eclectic than normal with songs from En Vogue, John Denver and Merle Haggard. ZZ Top, Jerry Lynn Williams and Led Zepplin hold up the rock end of the show and Willie, Kris Kristofferson and George Strait do their things. We have some good old boogie woogie from Renee Olstead and Asleep at the Wheel. Kelly Clarkson brings some pop, and you can’t have a show about Thank You without Sly and the Family Stone. Thank you for listening and for supporting the Voice of Vashon.

Eyes in Place of an Eye
This week we are keeping with the alchemy of love—with eros as a corpus hermeticum. Sound here serving as the furnace for the merge: suggesting that the creative impulse and romantic passion are not two isolated flames, but a single coalescent fire, searing and silent. With tracks from Laurén Maria, COLA REN, and Fatalism, we will see two gazes that summon each other, beauty incarnating into sight, the sublime vision of sensual wholeness. This episode, in other words, attempts to follow the apocryphal Gospel of Thomas to the word: making the two into one, folding the outside into the inside, forging two eyes in place of one.
