DR. SILVA RECEIVES OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP AWARD
Last Friday our very own Dr. Jose Silva received an award at the Education 2.0 Conference in Las Vegas, NV. The Outstanding Leadership Award is granted based on five criteria - leader's reputation, educational background, professional experience, creative thinking, and decisive leadership. Dr. Silva was chosen for this honor for his previous work as CEO of CoAIMH. Congratulations, Dr. Silva!
CONGRATS TO SHPE MEMBER, SHANTAL SARMIENTO
SHPE member Shantal Sarmiento is a senior majoring in Industrial Engineering at the University of Arkansas. She proudly received the 2021-22 John L. Imhoff Globalization Scholarship from Alpha Pi Mu. A native of Chiriqui, Panama, Sarmiento is involved in various student engineering organizations, and worked as an intern at the Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation.

CLEMSON NEWS FEATURES MEMBER JULIO RODRIGUEZ
Clemson University junior and Electrical Engineer, Julio Rodriguez, learned many things from his parents, but two lessons that stick out as he pushes toward graduation, is the value of an education and a strong work ethic. Julio, who is from Easley, SC, is now serving as president of the Clemson chapter of SHPE. He started with the chapter as a freshman and hasn’t missed a single meeting since!
VOTING BEGINS THIS WEEK FOR SHPE LEADERSHIP
We want you to be heard. That's why it's critical that you take an active role in voting for your SHPE elected, volunteer leaders. These are the people responsible for making sure that you're represented in the organization. Ballots will be sent out on April 14 to all eligible voters, and the last full day to vote is Thursday, April 29. Thank you in advance for making time to vote.

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR NILA 2022
The 2022 National Institute for Leadership Advancement (NILA) offers a valuable opportunity for SHPE's volunteer leaders to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to be successful. NILA will be held in two parts over two weekends this summer. If you are a chapter leader for 2022-2023, register by May 4 to ensure you receive your 2022 Chapter Leader Workbook in time!
