Leora Kirby has 25 years of experience as an HR executive with national and international organizations. I have an MBA in Finance. I was an associate professor at Southern State Community College for 8 ½ years. I have my CPC as a certified professional coach and an EQ-i2.0 Certified Practitioner. I have been an instructor for the SHRM HR Certification program for several years. It is my way to pay it forward for people entering the field of Human Resources.

NEW! Exam Strategy Slide Deck

Created in direct response to learner and instructor feedback, SHRM has released an Exam Strategy Slide deck as an additional teaching resource.

This deck is designed to wrap up certification studies and help learners succeed on exam day. It includes:

• Practical tips and test-taking strategies

• A variety of sample questions for targeted practice

• Guidance to help you manage time and confidence during the exam

This slide deck is available in PRC (Partner Resource Center) for both students and instructors. Instructors are encouraged to integrate these materials into their courses.

To support this new resource, course agendas have been updated in this and other PRC documents. The revised agendas align session timing with the exam’s functional area weightings for a more efficient study plan – and ensure sufficient timing for the Exam Strategy deck.

New Leadership Competency: Inclusive Mindset

Combines Inclusion & Diversity and Global Mindset.
Focuses on inclusion, fairness, and global awareness in the workplace.
Expect questions on connecting inclusion to business outcomes and fostering belonging across cultures.

Updated Cluster Structure

Leadership: Leadership & Navigation, Ethical Practice, Inclusive Mindset (new)
Interpersonal: Relationship Management, Communication
Business: Analytical Aptitude, Business Acumen, Consultation
People, Organization, and Workplace domains remain but include updated tools and examples.

Exam Timing and What It Means for Test-Takers:

If testing before May 2026:

Users should continue using the 2024/2025 SHRM Learning System. The exam is based on the pre-2026 SHRM BASK, so no new materials are required.

If testing May 2026 or later:

The 2026 SHRM BASK® introduces updated competencies and examples. Exams and 2026 Learning System materials starting May 1, 2026, are aligned with these updates. Test-takers should be advised to review or download the full BASK at shrm.org (Available January 1, 2026). Users of the current SHRM CP/ SCP Learning System also have a high-level crosswalk of these changes in the Resource Center.

Relevant questions, reading content, and pre-test/Practice Exams have been updated to reflect the changes to the BASK.
