You did it! You helped us pull off the best Leadership Conference in the history of SHRM of Greater St. Louis. Some might argue you were part of the best HR Conference ever held in the Midwest, but I will leave that for you to decide. The list of thank you's could fill the next few newsletters but I will keep it short by saying we could not have done this without the leadership of our Conference Committee, Chapter Management Firm, Board of Directors and you, our valued members.

"PUMA - A Guide to Attracting, Hiring & Retaining Veteran Talent"
What does being a veteran friendly organization mean? What does it look like? In this presentation we will hear from current veterans on what attracted them to their organization, why they accepted their offer, and what has kept them with their organization. We will look at trends and statistics surrounding veteran employment and veteran under-employment. We will also talk about best practices for veteran employee/affinity groups and veteran hiring initiatives. Join us for this session to discuss what we know about veterans, what we think we know about veterans, and what we need to know about veterans.

Diversity & Inclusion: #MeToo
Contributed by MT & Associates | Sign Language Interpreting, Inclusion & Diversity Committee
When you see bullying happening, do you say something or do you just let a bully get their way? We all make immediate assumptions about people throughout the day. This may be a survival instinct in our DNA to help us make quick decisions about safety that dates back to caveman days. But in our current environment, what if we stepped back for a minute when seeing someone who is a woman, deaf, or quadriplegic? Or what if we reconsidered reviewing an application even though the person's name was Jose, DeShawn, or Jimena? Between National Hispanic-Latino Heritage Month (recently from September 15th to October 15th) and the #MeToo Movement, employers and HR reps have a lot to consider. How can we call people out and show inclusion in our daily workplace? Check out Gillette's
#MeToo advertisement video here.
