SHSP Renovations for the New Academic Year
|
| | NYMC’s SHSP has undergone numerous renovations this summer, curating an environment that supports students, faculty and staff. The Department of Public Health is moving back into the building after spending the past 10 years at Skyline Drive. The Division of SLP is heading over to the Vosburgh Pavilion, joining its clinic, which will create an SLP hub. SLP is also being granted a new space where students can prepare for clinical work. Vikas Grover, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, chief, division of SLP, Professors Stephanie Blanco, SLP.D., CCC-SLP, TSSLD, ATP, and Monica McHenry, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, will each have their own lab space as well. One aspect of this renovation that is sure to excite students is the development of the Drs. Esther and Ben Chouake Student Commons on the ground floor. This area, formerly home to the Chouake physical therapy lab, will house a grab-and-go food and drink area, and provide a space for students to study or unwind outside of class. Victor Santamaria, M.Sc., Ph.D., PT, will direct the biomechanics lab for physical therapy and there will be seven new rooms in the building designated as flex-spaces for students.
