Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
The following procedures have been put in place for the safety of our entire Academy community.
Please follow the school's traffic directions for all arrivals and dismissals:
· Consider Buttonwood Road one-way from Circle Road to St. James Place on school days.
· Consider Cornwall Road one-way from Buttonwood Road to Benedict Road on school days.
· Do not park, stop or stand on the far side of Circle or Buttonwood Roads at ANY TIME since these are designated Fire Lanes.
· The campus side of Buttonwood Road will be reserved for drop-off and pick-up.
· The driving speed limit on campus is 3 MPH.
· Please do not double park on Circle or Buttonwood Roads or block any driveways.
ARRIVAL
Before 8:00 AM
· Pre-K 3 - Grade 4: Students are required to attend Extended Day in the Early Childhood Building.
· Grades 5 - 8: Students are required to attend Extended Day in the Commons.
· Grades 9 - 12: Students who arrive prior to 7:40 AM should report to the Patrick Commons.
Between 8 - 8:10 AM
· Grades Pre-K 3, Pre-K 4 & K: Students should be escorted to their classroom in the Early Childhood Building.
· Grades 1-4: Students may be dropped off at the Buttonwood Road entrance to Alumni Hall.
· Grades 5-8: Students may be dropped off at the Buttonwood Road entrance to Alumni Hall or the Front Circle and report directly to their homerooms.
· Grades 9 - 12: Students may be dropped off at the Buttonwood Road entrance to Alumni Hall or the Front Circle and report either to Homeroom or Morning Meeting, depending on the Cycle Day.
After 8:10 AM
· All students who arrive after 8:10 AM must sign-in (or be signed-in) at the Security Booth. Students who arrive after 8:10 AM will be marked "late" and will be subject to disciplinary action.
DISMISSAL
Between 3:00 PM - 3:20 PM
· The Front Circle between 3:00 PM - 3:20 PM is exclusively used for Early Childhood pick-up and our students taking buses. When picking up your child prior to 3:20 PM, please use the Front Circle and check-in with Security. All students in Lower School and Middle School being picked up after 3:30 PM must be signed out of Extended Day.
Prior to 3:20 PM
· Upper and Middle School students leaving campus prior to normal dismissal must be signed out from the Security Booth. Lower School students leaving campus prior to normal dismissal must be signed out in the Alumni Hall office. The School Nurse or the Lower, Middle, Upper School offices should be notified in a timely fashion. No student should go home sick without clearance from the School Nurse.
At 3:20 PM
· Grades Pre-K-8: Students are dismissed at 3:20 PM by the classroom teachers. Teachers will escort students who ride the buses to the bus pick-up area in the Front Circle. Parents picking up students should meet Grades 1-8 students at the Alumni Hall, Buttonwood Road exit, where teachers will dismiss the students. Pre-K 3, Pre-K 4 and K students may be picked up at the Early Childhood building.
· On a day when a student is enrolled in the Adventures Program, he/she will be escorted to Extended Day where the Adventures teacher will pick up students.
· Parents of students who normally ride the bus to school must provide written notification to the appropriate office if their child will not be traveling on the bus.
· If there is a change in the normal dismissal pickup, written notification must be given to the appropriate office by 2:00 PM.
· If student is being picked up by someone other than the parent or usual dismissal pick-up person, written notification must be given to the office.
· Grades 9 - 12: Students are dismissed and should be picked up on Buttonwood Road outside of Alumni Hall or the O.J. Buck Gymnasium.
After 3:30 PM
· Pre-K 3, Pre-K 4 & K: Children will remain in the Early Childhood Building with the Extended Day staff until 7:00 PM, as needed.
· Grades 1-8: A teacher will escort students who are not picked up by 3:30 PM to the Extended Day Program.
