Dear Parents,

As many of our families celebrated Rosh Hashanah on Monday and Tuesday, we want to take the time to reflect on the past and consider changes for the future. As such, I think it is a great time to review the mission of our school.  “The mission of Strelitz International Academy through its dynamic Jewish environment will enrich the life of the whole child and develop compassionate, lifelong learners. In collaboration with our families and the greater community, we will promote a social and global consciousness that encompasses a profound respect for all humanity.” Over the course of this school year we will begin the hard work of preparing for our Five year re-accreditation from the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS). Our VAIS five - year Visit will take place in the spring of 2024. We look forward to working with our entire school community as we plan for our future.

Please remember Tuesday, October 4 is Erev Yom Kippur, there is a noon dismissal and Fullcare and Sundown are closed. There is no school on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 in observance of Yom Kippur and FULLCARE, SIA Sundown and JCC SDO are closed.

Please mark your calendars for our upcoming events!

• Parent Breakfast in the Sukkah on Friday, October 14, 8:15am - 9:15am
• Early Years Falling into Shabbat on Friday, October 21, 2022, 9:30am - 11:30am

Together in Education

Harris Teeter’s Together In Education program gives schools a chance to earn funds when you link your VIC card and shop Harris Teeter brands.  Harris Teeter has donated over $32.4 million to Together In Education schools since 1998! When you shop Harris Teeter brands, a percentage of your purchase is donated to the school that your VIC card is linked to.  There are NO LIMITS to how much a school can earn!  Any customer with a VIC card can link their card to a school. Customers can link up to five (5) schools to their account. The more people that connect their loyalty cards to a school, the higher the earning potential for a school.

Online orders have arrived and are going home with students today and tomorrow!

The online School Store is now closed, but we do keep a limited supply of t-shirts in stock. Click here to order.

Invitations to out of school parties may not be handed out on school property. Please refrain from scheduling parties on Shabbat or Jewish holidays in order to be inclusive of all classmates who may observe Shabbat.

Due to allergies and dietary restrictions, SIA does not allow outside food and treats to be brought in to school for birthdays. We encourage families to order cupcakes or cookies through the Campus Cardo Cafe.

1) Please order at least a week in advance.

2) Confirm the treat date and time with your child's teacher.

3) Complete the form and payment and give to Linda in the front office.

4) Linda Bridges will deliver the order to your child's classroom at the arranged date and time.
