Dear Parents, 

Thank you so much to all of our students and parents who attended last week’s in-person student led conferences. This was an excellent opportunity for our students to take agency or ownership of their own learning, identify and set their own goals, and reflect upon how well they have met their goals. The students and faculty worked very hard to prepare and present their student portfolios for their parents.  

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and we want to thank our SIA Parent Volunteer Organization for planning this year’s teacher appreciation week! You always make us all feel very special and appreciated! 

The Student Government Association campaigning begins this week! The SGA serves to engage our students in learning about democracy and leadership. The SGA helps to raise funds for school-wide activities and special tzedakah projects. SGA speeches and voting will take place on Thursday, May 11 and Friday, May 12, 2023.  

On April 29, 2023, three representatives from Strelitz International Academy’s Chess Club participated in the Seven Cities School Chess Championship. The 3 participants were Adielle Uduaghan, Zane Uduaghan, and Quinn Margulies. Out of 56 schools, Strelitz International Academy placed 5th! Adielle placed 4th among 36 students within the Intermediate Rookie class, Zane placed 21st and Quinn placed 16th among 35 students within the Junior Rookie class. We are so proud of our SIA Chess champions! A special thank you to Coach Mike for preparing our students for this challenge!

Next Tuesday, May 9, 2023 is Lag B’Omer (Field Day)! Our students will practice their excellent sportsmanship skills as they compete in various challenges such as an obstacle course, Gaga tournament, parachute ball challenge, tug-o-war and Putt-Putt. In the afternoon, Faculty and students will enjoy an old-fashioned cookout for lunch followed by water games such as the big sponge pass and the water balloon toss, slip and slide and some new surprises. Thank you so much Mr. Leiderman for planning and organizing such a wonderful day.  

Please join us next Friday, May 12, 2023 for our First Grade Siddur Presentation at 1:30pm. We are so excited for our first graders as they reach this milestone in their educational journey.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week is off to a great start! Our staff and faculty received beautiful fresh flowers, a delicious superhero themed brunch, and Cardo gift cards! Don't forget to have your child make a card, drawing or write a note of thanks to their teachers for tomorrow. A special thank you to our PVO who made this week's events possible!

Seven Cities School Chess Championship

Over the weekend, three of our Primary Year students participated in the Seven Cities School Chess Championship. Out of 56 schools, Strelitz International Academy placed 5th! Within the Intermediate Rookie class,  Adielle Uduaghan placed 4th among 36 students. Zane Uduaghan placed 21st, and Quinn Margulies placed 16th among 35 students within the Junior Rookie class. We are very proud of the students who represented SIA! Checkmate!

Israel Fest

We had a wonderful time at Israel Fest this past Sunday! Thank you to everyone who stopped by our kibbutz and made some freshly squeezed orange juice. It was a great time!
