Dear Parents,
It was so wonderful to see so many of our parents, students and faculty attend the Pasta Dinner last night. The students had such a great time eating dinner with their friends and parents and enjoying the giant slide, Ryan the Balloon Guy and playing in the rain! Thank you so much to all the volunteers without whom this event could not be such a great success! A special thank you to Latoya, our head pasta chef, our dedicated faculty, parent volunteers and Carin Simon, our event organizer, who worked so hard to make sure we all had a fun family evening.
Our students and faculty were so happy to be back to a regular schedule and full week of school! There is so much learning and collaborating happening within our school. I can’t tell you what a joy and pleasure it is to be part of this wonderful school community.
Our Primary Years students had a wonderful time on their first field trip since the pandemic to the Virginia Zoo! They learned all about animal habitats, rode a school bus, and were able to connect this trip to this week’s parsha about Noah and the ark. A special thank you to Mrs. Brashevitzky for organizing this wonderful trip to the zoo and to our entire faculty for keeping everyone safe.
We are looking forward to Parent-teacher conferences on Monday, October 11, 2021 from 9:00am – 3:00pm and Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 4:00pm- 7:00pm. Please note there is no school on Monday, October 11, 2021, Fullcare is closed and JCC School Days Out is open for all students that are registered.
Applying Best Practice to School Safety requires practice. Therefore, we will conduct a lock down drill on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 9:30am; this drill will transition into an evacuation drill for all faculty and students. Children will transit from their respective spaces to the gym and a simulated evacuation. The drill will last approx. 30 min, please remain clear of the affected areas during the drill, during the lockdown phase no entry will be allowed to those areas. If you are in the building during the initial lockdown you will be required to participate.
Shabbat Shalom!
Below you will see some reminders for next week.
