In this month's issue:

Looking forward to a new year and decade, keeping teams energized and engaged, while keeping an eye on future technology trends.
The month of January heralds the start of a new year, and in this case, a new decade. How exciting!
For businesses, a new calendar year opens up opportunities to re-examine the go-forward plan on many fronts. Sales teams and management should be taking this time to look at goals and objectives to ensure projections are on target. If they aren’t, there isn’t a better time to talk about why, and how to correct areas that need to be addressed.
Everyone has heard of the January blahs, so it’s also a great time to energize teams, employees, and business partners by announcing exciting new travel and reward incentives. Travel rewards and incentives has consistently proven to be the most effective and sought after way to motivate change and increase the drive toward goal achievements. These “carrots” give people a focus on which to aim their directives and become re-engaged. Trade shows and off-site conferences are also great ways to bring people together, learn more about what’s new in the company industry, and connect with potential new clients and/or sources.
January is typically a month for gearing up on upcoming programs and trips for the coming months, but at the end of the month we'll be in Las Vegas at Green Valley Ranch Resort with a flooring client and 100 attendees for their two day event. We know they're going to love the David Copperfield offsite event we have planned!

Oh, how we love, and hate, technology! Whatever side of the technology coin you fall on, what can’t be debated is just how radically technology is impacting our business, our communications, and our CRMs—in fact, virtually every facet of today’s business is touched by technology. As we enter into a new decade, it’s important to stay on-trend and in-the-know about the tools available, and what our competitors are doing to successfully implement these new tools.
For example, we know there’s an app for everything, but did you know there are apps for meeting planners and event attendees? Well, there are, and here are a few we thought were worth checking out:
E2M Enterprise – an “ audience engagement app that radically improves the consumer event experience for attendees and mobilizes information for all corporate events …” “ it allows ability to distribute real-time event information, increase user engagement and provide social capabilities during multiple events .” Some of the useful t ools included in this app are polling, a social media wall, personalized agendas, gamification, a chatbot, and a videobot.
SocialPoint - includes several games that drive different goals. This app allows attendees to gain points by attending sessions or demos, while at the same time, learn about specific products or services. Attendees report participating in the games and ensuring they attend the sessions in order to earn points, thereby increasing engagement and upping the fun aspect of events.
Zenus – a facial recognition company that works with event planners to help streamline registrations, increase event security, note user engagement, and other exciting new developments coming up in the future.
With so much technology available, in addition to our smart phones, laptops, Apple watches, smart wristbands, and so on, it’s no wonder we love to hate our technology. One thing is for sure; it’s a trend that’s on the rise, and one we at S.I.S. will be watching closely. When working with clients who are interested in implementing a new app or technology, we’re committed to ensuring the right tools for the job.
Early February – We’re excited to head to Le Blanc Spa Resorts in Los Cabos, Mexico with a long term client and 75 of their guests for their President’s Council Incentive! We're planning a couple of wild experiences that involve whale watching and camel rides for this group, which will be such fun!
After that, we’re in full swing with a several events lined up for S.I.S. over the course of the next 6 weeks. Stay tuned for details!
Now that the holidays are over, the celebrations have ended, and all the decorations have been put away for another year, I look forward to seeing what the new year will bring. Change and growth are key to any business's success, and S.I.S. is no different. While we love what we’ve done well, and never stop doing what we know works, we’re always on the lookout for what’s on the horizon, whether it be in a destination, a new way of working, or staying on-trend with innovative technology that affects our industry and our clients. It’s about investing in the future and ensuring we’re able to meet our client’s expectations, while delivering the most outstanding events and travel rewards possible. It’s the possibilities of the future that energize me on multiple levels, on both personal and professional grounds. After all, the future is the direction I’m travelling, and I hope you’ll join me as we enter into a new decade of growth and achievement.
