The Hard Way: Lessons I Learned in My 30 Years as a Navy SEAL

Captain Rick Woolard, Navy SEAL (Ret.)

Rick Woolard was born in Austin, Texas, raised in Nyack, New York, and is a graduate of Colgate University and the Naval War College. He completed SEAL, Airborne, and Ranger Training and made two combat deployments to Vietnam as a SEAL Platoon Commander in the 1960s. 
During his 30-year Navy career, he commanded SEAL Team TWO, SEAL Team SIX, and the Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU). Other assignments were with Underwater Demolition Team 21, the Special Boat Service of the British Royal Marines, Naval Special Warfare Group TWO, and US Forces Caribbean; and as Director of Combating Terrorism in the Office of the Secretary of Defense and Director of the US Special Operations Command’s Washington Office. Read more on our website.

Take on Tactical Training
Our Tactical Training With SEALs event allows participants to experience weapons instruction like never before from Navy SEALs at a world class shooting destination. Limited to ten people, Tactical Training With SEALs is a day-and-a-half of hands-on tactical training at the OK Corral Gun Club in beautiful Okeechobee, Florida.

$2500 per person includes food, lodging, ammunition, and instruction for tactical shotguns, 9mm handguns, and 300 Blackout rifles, overseen and directed by elite Navy SEAL operators.

Space is strictly limited. Reservations are required. Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 27 and Sunday, March 28 and register now while there is still availability.
The Navy SEAL Museum's Scholarship Program
Scholarship applications for the 2021-2022 academic year for The Marlee Foundation and Trident Tuition Funds will be available near the end of March and must be returned no later than May 15, 2021 for consideration.

Applications for each will be available for download from the Museum’s website. All students of Special Operations individuals are encouraged to apply.
Winding Up for Wheels & Keels of Vero Beach
Wheels & Keels of Vero Beach, Florida is back this year at the picturesque Moorings Yacht and Country Club. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Navy SEAL Museum's Trident House Charities Program.

Friday, April 9, 2021, 5:30 PM – Cocktails, Dinner & Live Auction

The dinner and auction event is $145 per person. Advance reservations are required for all participants, with a registration deadline of April 1, 2021.

Saturday, April 10, 2021, 10:00 AM – Antique & Exotic Car & Boat Show with Red Carpet Awards Ceremony

View exotic and antique cars and boats exhibited on the first hole of the golf course and impressive yachts moored at the docks. Show car registration is $50. Show boat registration is $25. The spectator show fee is $10; children 12 and under are free. A buffet lunch is available for $20 per person at The Moorings Clubhouse veranda from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Tactical Training With SEALs
The Museum Joins Jack Carr in Conversation
The Vero Beach Book Center hosts Jack Carr as he presents his newest book The Devil's Hand in conversation with Museum Chief Operating Officer Rick Kaiser on Wednesday April 14 at 6:00 PM.

Jack Carr served as a Navy SEAL, leading special operations teams as a Team Leader, Platoon Commander, Troop Commander and Task Unit Commander. Over his 20 years in Naval Special Warfare, he transitioned from an enlisted SEAL sniper to a junior officer leading assault and sniper teams in Iraq and Afghanistan, to a platoon commander practicing counterinsurgency in the southern Philippines, to commanding a Special Operations Task Unit in southern Iraq throughout the tumultuous drawdown of U.S. Forces. Jack retired from active duty in 2016 and lives with his wife and three children in Park City, Utah. He is the author of The Terminal List, True Believer, and Savage Son.

Flags ready for retirement may be dropped off at the Museum's front desk during Museum operating hours or brought the day of.

Our annual Memorial Day Service is held outdoors at our Memorial Wall. It is open to the public and free of charge. Admission into the Museum is complimentary following the ceremony. The Museum opens at 8:00 AM and will close at 12:00 noon on Memorial Day.

Beyond The Teams will culminate a 300-mile outrigger canoe paddle at the Museum the morning of Memorial Day in support of our Trident House Charities Program. Food trucks will be onsite following the service on the Museum's North Lawn in a separate Meet and Greet with the Beyond The Teams group.

Beyond The Teams
Beyond the Teams is a group of former Navy SEALs who’ve teamed up to undertake a new kind of mission. Together, they conduct fund-raising events for organizations and causes that help people with physical disabilities, cultural disadvantages and practical needs going unmet because they are the “little guys.” 
This group of very motivated men will complete a 300-mile paddle from Key West to Fort Pierce, Florida, culminating at the Museum on 31 May, Memorial Day. Proceeds from their event benefit the Museum's Trident House Charities Program.
