President Paula welcomed everyone to this morningʻs meeting.

Our Invocation by Lydia was a brief history of President Abraham Lincoln and what a remarkable man and president he was. Of all the presidents he was able to accomplish the most with the greatest amount of adversity. Happy Birthday, Honest Abe!

Sunshine: Our thoughts are with Colleen today, hoping her recovery is swift and that she is back with us in no time!

This week's speaker

Shannon Liebel, Stillwater Yoga

In her youth, Shannon trained in artistic and acrobatic

gymnastics and competed at the elite and international level. Shannon received a BA in Psychology and MA in Clinical Counseling. When she discovered yoga in 2005, it was the perfect balance of the mental work she enjoyed in Psychology and the physical movement of the body that she loved in gymnastics.

Shannon received her Registered Yoga Teacher 200 with Yax Yoga Concepts in 2012 and began teaching right away, and then opened her studio in Lake Tahoe in 2016. Nine months after the studio opened, Shannon had open heart surgery and this experience only strengthened her belief in the power of yoga. In 2018, she furthered her education and trained in Thailand with Beyond Bryce to receive her RYT 500, and also received her FRCms with Functional Anatomy seminars later that year. Shannon strongly believes in the connection between mind, body, and soul, and this reflects in her Vinyasa style teaching. She is the owner of Still Water Yoga Lake Tahoe, LLC, teaches daily classes, facilitates workshops and yoga teacher trainings, runs international yoga retreats around the world, and teaches at a variety of yoga festivals on the West Coast.

What an enjoyable morning weh had doing a bit of meditation, stretching and chair yoga. Shannons says that people who say they are not flexible enough to do yoga are like saying "I'm too dirty to take a shower". Part of the beauty of yoga is that is helps you get MORE flexible! One purpose of yoga is to be aware of the body and breath, to be in the moment and realize what a beautiful gift it is to be alive. Small miracles happen everyday and sometimes we need to slow down, get out of our everyday issues, and remind ourselves why life is so magical.

Shannon teaches all types and levels of yoga, leads yoga trips to Machu Picchu, Guatemala, Bali and Greece, leads workshops and retreats, and teaches other yoga teachers. You can reach her at info@stillwateryogalaketahoe.com. Thank you Shannon for spending time with us today and teaching us how to "Be in awe of the moment". Namaste.

Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless seeks community support in keeping people warm this winter

As our Tahoe winter settles in with snow and frigid temperatures, most residents retreat to the inside for activities, comforts, and warm beds in a place we call home. Our South Shore community has been able to sleep better knowing that our homeless population has this option as well. This winter season marks the seventh anniversary of the Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless (TCH) providing warm beds to the most vulnerable in our community.

They are also in great need for clothing items and will accept donations at their office

The office hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 12-4 at the Red Lodge, 1137 Emerald Bay Rd. As the temperature drops they are in need of warm clothes and jackets, gloves, and hand warmers.
