Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra

Enhancing the lives of women and youth

in our community and the world.

We are always looking for fun and dedicated women to join our club!

'WAKE UP WITH US'

for an inspiring start to your day

President Lisa Cali opened today's meeting on her Birthday! A little celebration was commenced before we got down to the business meeting.

Invocation Lydia spoke about life's wounds today and how they affect our trajectory. If we can learn from the event we may be able to change the outcome in the future. If it is beyond our control, we can only change our reaction to the event. "Be strong in loss, be fierce in adversity, be willing to become wise when we are wounded."

Sunshine: We are thinking of all the people affected by the last two devastating hurricanes in the south. Many of us have friends and family who are in harm's way. Also sending sunshine to Wendy for recovery.

Guests: Vanna Bells joined us this morning to get a taste of a vigorous discussion during our business meeting. She has recently moved from Carson City and is managing the Douglas County Library. Welcome, Vanna and we hope you will come again!

Business Meeting: Last month's minutes and the current financial report were reviewed and approved by the membership. Correspondence included a newsletter from the Kellermann Foundation, notice CASA ElDorado Gala on Nov. 2 and and invitation to Awaken's documentary on sex trafficking on Nov. 13 at the Grand Sierra Theater.

Discussion was held about upcoming fundraising events. Timing of solicitation letters was discussed. Committee chairs were designated and signups for members will be available in the next two weeks to support each committee.

Committee chairs should submit a description fo duties and how many people they need to Jean B. who will put it up on Signup.com.

Upcoming dates for important Fundraising events include:

Festival of Lights, December 4-8 from 4-8pm.

Mad Hatter Tea at Valhalla, May 18, 2025

Celebrity Tournament, July 9-13, 2025

We are a hands on club, and we need all hands on these important projects to raise funds for our community.

Our Annual Halloween Party will be held on Thursday, Oct. 31 (how appropriate!) and our special guests will be the members of the S Club from the high school and SITSters from the LTCC club. SITS Members will provide light breakfast snacks, coffee and juice.

SITS Member Items & Our Projects

Please share this opportunity with anyone you know who might be eligible. Our club has budgeted $6000 towards this program to help women with their educational goals. For further information or questions contact SITS member Nancy Muller.

We are all STARS!

SITS members enjoyed an evening of Yoga with Susan Glasson. Susan spoke to our club a few weeks ago about the work she is doing with schools in Cambodia. Participants made a donation to help continue her work. A very invigorating evening was had by all.
