President Lisa Cali opened today's Halloween meeting with her amazing smile and warm heart.
Guests today included Kim's daughter Christina and members of the South Tahoe High "S" Club: Advisor Anne Filce and members Deia, Ollie, and Maite. So wonderful have you with us!
Our Invocation was from our "Book of Lydia" since she continues enjoying Italy! Always enjoy the poem "Little Orphant Annie" by James Whitcomb Riley. Remember: An the Gobble-ums 'll gits you Ef you Don't Watch Out!
Sunshine: Recently someone shot out the windows in Lois' Honda and Tesla. She believes this act was politically motivated (as she had a candidate's sign in her yard). Her sunshine is for the people so angry about politics and wishes for healing in our community and country.
Prayers and comforting thoughts go to Julie's friend undergoing cancer treatments.

Today's meeting was SPOOKtacular Halloween fun. Members and guests definitely got into the spirit. First, we enjoyed a continental breakfast provided by our members.
|
| | Book fairy Paula gave us a short lesson in how to bellow your best witch's cackle and then asked us to share a favorite Halloween memory, whether positive or traumatic. Stories ranged from the headless horseman to possible criminals in a haunted mansion, carving pumpkins, being Capt. Jack Sparrow, Halloween college parties, the "refrigerated bush" from the creepy guy on the corner, trick or treating in costumes when it snowed. Then there's making different costumes: robot costumes, Ewok costume, a costume to match the doll you're carrying, a weather appropriate Wonder Woman costume to a DOG Vader one for a golden Retriever. More memories included gathering food for the needy, watching Halloween movies, or perhaps your white poodle outfit was egged. Each memory reminded us of the power of using our imaginations no matter our age. And, there was still more fun to be had. Shelly led us in a game called "Sardines." We were put into groups of 3 or 4. One group headed out to hide anywhere in the Malof Center and then everyone else had to find that group and once we were hiding altogether it was like being a squished can of sardines. Thank you, Lisa Cali, Paula and Shelly for an enjoyable way to wake up on this blustery morning.
