Today's Meeting Review!
President Paula opened our meeting.
With September 11th right around the corner, Lydia’s invocation served as a gentle reminder to remember the lives that were lost on that day and the lingering impact that event will forever have on the survivors and all of us as a nation. She encouraged us to resolve to Be Kinder, Live Fuller, and Work Harder.
We welcomed our two members who joined us by Zoom this morning. This is a wonderful option on days you may be out of town, under the weather, or simply aren’t able to make it to the meeting in person. Www.sitszoom.com
Induction We welcomed the first new member of the season this morning! Carol Gerard has been a member of our community for many years. Born in Illinois, Carol moved to Southern California after earning a Master’s Degree in Biological Science. She has been a biology teacher and a manager in the aerospace industry. Currently retired, she has dedicated many hours to volunteer service. Having recently stepped down as the director of Bread and Broth, Carol enjoys hiking and spending time with her dog and friends. She will be a wonderful addition to our club!
Sunshine goes out to Tina Miranda and Bill Martinez. We send hope for healing and comfort.
Lois provided our treasurer’s report this morning. All of our committees received the funds they requested for this year. Moving forward, Jeanne Prestella will serve as our budget / finance person. Thanks go out to both of you for your dedication and hard work on behalf of our club.
Correspondence Shirley shared some wonderful Thank You cards from some of our scholarship recipients, South Tahoe Middle School, Zephyr Cove Elementary School, Community United, Catalyst, My Sister’s House, and Susan Horst - our District 5 coordinator. How wonderful it is to hear how our efforts are welcomed and appreciated!
Soroptimist Anniversaries!!! Congratulations and heartfelt thanks for your years of service to our club and our community!

SEPTEMTER is Suicide Prevention Month:
Here's an added item for your knowledge! Suicide claims the lives of more than 47,000 Americans per year. It's a serious threat for the young and our older adults. September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and there is much to learn. One important item to SHARE around the nation is that one can easily reach The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline by dialing 988. We have two great sources of information. NAMI, National Alliance on Mental Illness has valuable information here. And click here for added resources from Barton Health.

This year’s ceremony will be on Saturday, September 10 at 2:30pm. This event is open to the public. Granite Construction will close the slow lane coming down the mountain, and will be directing traffic. Parking will be available along the road starting at 2:00. It's Chris Campion to let you know Tahoe Arts Project has convinced me to dance. Yes, you read that right - dance... I can't believe it either. But its for a great cause.
Oct. 15, 2022, at 6:30pm at Bally's - I'll be one of ten locals hoofing it at this entertaining Fundraiser to help bring more of the arts into our schools. It has become one of the best social events in town and is back for the first time since March 2020.
My luck held and I got a great "pro" partner - Chelsea. She is one of my granddaughter Lily's dance teachers at the Studio. With the two of them on my team, I'm hoping for no serious injuries or major embarassments. Minor embarassments are guaranteed.
Until Sept. 15th, follow the link below to buy special pre-sale tickets. Enter the code 'Heavenly' to get seats ($50 or $25/$15 kids) at tables in our section. Grab some friends and come have fun. Even if you choose to buy tickets later, make sure to select to support Chelsea and Chris, Kim and George, or one of your other favorite dance teams!
I'd love to have you join the fun and support TAP. Or, like NASCAR, just come to see the crashes. Either way, hope to see you there!
Thanks, Chris
