Enhancing the lives of women and youth

in our community and the world.

Today's Meeting Review!

The meeting this morning was opened by President Paula. Lydia's invocation was a reflection on a wonderful woman we all miss, Ms. Irene Morris. Irene wrote and provided our weekly invocations for so many years, even into her 90s and she is missed so much. Each year for Halloween she would recite "Little Orphan Annie" and Lydia has kept up our tradition. Thank you Lydia for this ongoing tradition. If you've never shared this with your children you can do so here!! It's a short 3-minute video by Anne Rutherford. Today was a reminder that we are so lucky when those that leave us bring back a smile rather than a tear.

Sunshine: Sending out "good vibes" to all of our gals, those present and past. Being in this club you not only do work for others but you make life long friends as well. And to all of our ladies who have "stuff" going on. Our prayers are with you.

Guests: We had the pleasure of Andrea Solis visiting us again! Hoping she makes this a habit. Turns out she and Lisa H attended Cleveland High School at the same time in their freshman year and they grew up with mutual friends. SMALL world!

Soroptimist Sightings! Ms. Tery Kunibe, our Life Member  and Carol Taylor, one of our retired members. Love seeing you ladies!

Reminder from Nancy M that the Live Your Dream applications are due Nov. 15! This award assists women who provide the primary source of financial support for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects. Questions? Email Nancy at [email protected]

Today's meeting focused on some fun, Halloween Fun to be exact. Thank you to Shelly for always helping us to play! Included in today's activities was Build a Snack (yum), Halloween Bingo, and an exciting Balloon game! Most special was helping Shelly's Girl Scout troop in making tray treats for the Meals on Wheels program in our community. Recipients really enjoy added items for holidays!

We had spirited members who came in costume which added to the fun! President Paula led the way!  Thank you again Shelly for all the fun and an added thank you to Lydia for the marvelous pumpkin bundt cake!

Facebook Link We are changing over from using Facebook Group to Facebook Page.  The link above will get you where you need to go! Let's all be on the same Page!!!

Update from Jen at Zawadisha

The Zawadisha team approved and disbursed 252 loans to 17 women's groups. There will still a handful of groups who had requested loans, so this month the team disbursed 61 loans to three new women's groups.

There's been a heightened interest in simple household items like chairs and mattresses, and this is a good sign. It means that people feel comfortable taking loans out for non-essential items. The financial stress that people have felt is letting up a bit, and that's a relief for everyone.

As usual, the women have a month to "rest" before they start repaying over a six or 12-month payment plan. Once they repay in full, they are eligible for another loan.

Did you know that you can see and learn about our life-changing micro-lending model IRL in the summer of 2023? We have three guided, all-inclusive trips for you to choose from.. Spots are starting to fill up, so click on that link today and respond to this email with any questions.

Thanks again for your support!
