Enhancing the lives of women and youth

in our community and the world.

Today's Meeting Review!

Lydia gave this morning's invocation. She reminded us all of how nice it is when we turn the clocks turn back and we can snuggle into our warm homes, take a breath and relax a bit.

Sunshine: Keep Dave Miller and his wife Pat in your prayers. JoAnne Shope has a new great grandson, Henry, in Montana.

We have several SITS anniversaries this month:

Cookie Rork 19 years

Kim Valverde 9 years

Tina Miranda 1 year

Wendy David 25 years

Jennifer Stafford 9 years

Carolyn Robinson 18 years

Thank everyone of you for making this club so strong!

Today was our monthly business meeting. Previous monthly meeting minutes were approved.

We spent the remainder of the meeting discussing our options and voting on our next fundraiser. The general consensus was that we will keep our online auction as always, plan on an in person, smaller, event in the spring, and incorporate a raffle if possible.

SITS Member Items & Our Projects

SITS Committees - Chairs please update your descriptions!

All Members:

Please sign up for your committees of choice here. It's through our committee work that we accomplish so much for the community of Tahoe and the world. We ask that all members select one Technical (how our club operates) and one Service (what our club does) committee. Remember, we can jump in on all committee meetings and activities as desired! For your viewing pleasure see the committee videos we made with Tahoe Production House for full explanations.

                  Many hands make light work!

October SUPERSTAR STUDENT at Mt. Tallac school is Ahmari Gonzalez.

The award was presented on October 28th, and she was all dressed up for Halloween, and was just adorable!

Her teachers praised everything about her! It was an honor to acknowledge her efforts!

Health Women Healthy World Committee will be supporting the Bread and Broth program with funding AND in person support.  Mark your calendars for January 30th and March 6th.

On January 30th we will be cooperating with 'Lasagna Love' to provide the meal. We will need about 5 ladies on each night. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Kim Valverde. She will be sending out a sign up sheet closer to the event dates, but call early if you want to ensure your spot!

Challenge Day at STHS is confirmed for February 13, 14, 15, and 16, 2023. 25 volunteers are needed for each of the days. If you'd like to volunteer contact Theresa Papandrea directly at tahoesafekids@gmail.com . Let her know you're with SITS. And if you have friends who are interested, please share! We are awaiting the dates for STMS. And if you're not familiar with this amazing opportunity for our youth and all the volunteers, check the program out here.

Update from Jen at Zawadisha

The Zawadisha team approved and disbursed 252 loans to 17 women's groups. There will still a handful of groups who had requested loans, so this month the team disbursed 61 loans to three new women's groups.

There's been a heightened interest in simple household items like chairs and mattresses, and this is a good sign. It means that people feel comfortable taking loans out for non-essential items. The financial stress that people have felt is letting up a bit, and that's a relief for everyone.

As usual, the women have a month to "rest" before they start repaying over a six or 12-month payment plan. Once they repay in full, they are eligible for another loan.

Did you know that you can see and learn about our life-changing micro-lending model IRL in the summer of 2023? We have three guided, all-inclusive trips for you to choose from.. Spots are starting to fill up, so click on that link today and respond to this email with any questions.

Thanks again for your support!

Everyone has a role in this process, which is why we need your input.

Please complete this critical 5–7-minute survey that will help guide and improve tourism and outdoor recreation management efforts. Your responses are anonymous and confidential.
