Enhancing the lives of women and youth

in our community and the world.

Today, President Shelly opened our bewitching morning!

Let us begin by thanking the several women who made this morning's Halloween celebration such a blast. As always, our leadership President Shelly and President Elect Lisa C provide us these fun opportunities. The decorations, the games, and the food was Spook-tacular!

We began with the Pledge of Allegiance and our wonderful invocation presented by Lydia that honored our dear departed Irene Morris. We miss that lady so much. Annually, Irene would recite the famous poem "Little Orphant Annie by James Whitcomb Riley (1849 - 1916). This is a classic and a must to share with kids. The last stanza of the poem is so full of fun:

"An’ little Orphant Annie says when the blaze is blue,

An’ the lamp-wick sputters, an’ the wind goes woo-oo!

An’ you hear the crickets quit, an’ the moon is gray,

An’ the lightnin’-bugs in dew is all squenched away,--

You better mind yer parents, an’ yer teachers fond an’ dear,

An’ churish them ‘at loves you, an’ dry the orphant’s tear,

An’ he’p the pore an’ needy ones ‘at clusters all about,

Er the Gobble-uns’ll git you

 Ef you

      Don’t

              Watch

                Out!

Read and share the whole poem here! Happy Halloween everyone!

Todays guests included two young women from the S Club at South Tahoe High School, Alysin and Rocky! We loved having you ladies join us and are so thrilled that you are learning about what it is to belong to a service club. Little did these future leaders know what was in store for their morning! It's not everyday you get mummified.

Our ladies work hard for our community and we like to play a lot as well! 7:30 AM is NOT too early when you're amongst amazing women. Many of our ladies came in costume and the room was decorated with all sorts of fun!

Mummys All Around!

Another activity in our morning was to decorate candy bars for our community members who belong to our Meals on Wheels program. After all, who doesn't like a treat?

And what's a party without a rousing round of Halloween Bingo! Thank you to everyone who participated today. It was a fun way to start the day. If YOU are a fun woman who wants to be involved in your community, then consider dropping in for a visit any Thursday morning at 7:30 AM at the Senior Center.
