HEADMASTER'S MESSAGE

Standing Still

As new Vermonters, my family and I have remarked on the very shortness of the days as winter has deepened. So, the arrival of the Winter Solstice has been particularly welcome—if only because it symbolizes the change in direction toward spring.
 
The word solstice derives from the Latin sol for “sun” and stitium for “standing still” or “stopping.”

Athletic Department Launches New Social Media

The athletic Department has launched new social media sites to offer more athletic content to our Hilltopper community. The new sites will be the prime source for athletic news, scores and updates. Additional content will include athlete features and introductions. Fans can even plan to get in on the action through photos and captions because we know that much of our success comes from the support from our community.

Members of the Facilities and Athletics departments installed the boards for the school's new outside hockey rink Monday. The liner and ice will be installed at a later date as the school prepares to offer another on-campus activity for the second semester to keep SJA students safely on campus.
Leave it to Ms. Laverty to come up with a way to offer "hugs" to students while still following social distancing rules.
Mr. Hartshorn's cat sweater and Mr. Racenet's ninja gingerbread suit were highlights of last weeks holiday celebration.
SJA teacher Jesse Holden is all smiles as he completes his 26th mile on Saturday during his "12 Hours of Vert-mas" fund-raiser for Umbrella. Jesse completed 33 miles and over 13,000 feet of elevation gain, running up and over Mt. Pisgah eight times!! Joining him for his last miles was SJA Alum, Hillary Gerardi '04, a champion skyrunner and Black Diamond sponsored mountain athlete. Jesse raised over $5,000 during the event.
