In Praise of the Snow Day

True to form, COVID-19 interrupted the normal annual Winter Carnival here at St. Johnsbury Academy, just when a Winter Carnival seems like precisely what we need. It’s important in an icy, snowy place to have an event that marks the beginning of winter’s end--that takes all of the things that can be joyful and magical about the season and celebrates them with the knowledge that we’re soon going to start spring and they will disappear.

Students' Work to be Shown at Brattleboro Museum

St. Johnsbury Academy students won a total of 37 regional art awards in this year's 2021 Scholastic Art Awards for both Fine Art and Writing. A total of 10 students won awards for their work in Digital Art, Painting, Photography, Drawing and Illustration, Printmaking, Ceramics, Poetry, Short Story, Science Fiction and Fantasy. They received six Gold Keys, 17 Silver Keys, and 14 Honorable Mentions. Entries winning regional Gold Keys will be judged at the national level of the competition in the coming weeks.

Seniors Create Custom Fridge

Seniors Cale McGinnis, Cameron Lamarre and Carter Gingue created a custom-painted mini-fridge to raffle. The proceeds will benefit auto shop projects. Ticket prices are one for $3.00 and five for $10 and can be purchased from an auto student or by contacting Mrs. Newland by email or by phone at (802) 751-2359.
Athletics Live-Streaming and Cut-Out Spectators

Basketball games played in Alumni Gymnasium can be viewed live on our new streaming service at this link. Games are also archived on the site. Please check our website to see the most up-to-date schedules.

We know it is challenging to not be in the gym for your son’s or daughter’s basketball games this season. We also recognize that your child will miss seeing your face in the crowd. We are offering the opportunity to have your “Face in the Crowd." This effort allows you to purchase fan signs through the SJA Athletic Department and have them placed in the stands for your favorite basketball player.
Support SJA Basketball by having an 18” x 24” photo of you in the bleachers.
1.    Hilltopper Fan Signs are $20 each. Place your order online: Hilltopper Fan Signs.
2.    Photos should be high resolution and can be vertical or horizontal.
3.    Photos are subject to approval.
4.    Hilltopper Fan Signs are yours to keep at the end of the basketball season.
5.    Call the Academy Field House desk to make a cash or credit card payment (748-8683) if you cannot order online.
