MoreThan Nostalgia


 An enjoyable four years at St. Johnsbury Academy led me to seek to extend my stay for 30 years and counting. It is my pleasure to have the opportunity to work with students, share my insights and memories, and observe the power of new generations of St. Johnsbury Academy experience traditions and make their own memories. The opportunity for me to connect with alums and remember the good old days has demonstrated the joy that comes from nostalgia. However, the last few years have led me to the realization that so many of the shared memories of students past and present lead to shared life lessons long after graduating from this school.

Seniors Nominated to Naval Academy



St. Johnsbury Academy seniors Konnery Buoniconti, of Lyndonville, and Liam Ryan, of St. Johnsbury, have been nominated to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. The pair, along with seven other Vermont seniors, were recognized at a December ceremony at the State House in Montpelier hosted by Vermont’s Congressional delegation to celebrate students nominated to the Air Force, Naval, and Military academies. A final decision on their application is expected in March.

Student Named to Vermont State Youth Council


Jeremiah Watson, a member of the Class of 2026, has been appointed to serve on the Vermont State Youth Council. The newly formed group and its 28 members are charged with providing Governor Phil Scott and state legislators advice and recommendations on policies that impact young Vermonters. Members represent a diverse group of youth across ages, grades, genders, lived experiences, policy interests, and other characteristics.

Senior ads are now on sale. Parents and families of seniors are asked to create their ads using this link and click on the "Sign In" link and create a new account.


Just a reminder that seniors will receive their yearbook as part of their Graduation Package which also includes their Prom tickets, and Commencement tickets.

We are celebrating Winter Carnival this week. Wednesday's theme was "Anything but a Backpack Variety Day," and some of our students came up with some unique ideas for carrying their books. See more photos of the day here.

Last week we celebrated National Girls and Women in Sports Day prior to the Varsity girls' game versus Burlington. Youth basketball players were invited to participate and took the court during halftime for shooting drills.

In their inaugural season, the St. Johnsbury Academy Cheer Team placed 3rd in the NVAC District Championships.

The Boys' Track Team captured the D1 state title on Saturday at UVM, and the girls' team came in third. Photos from the day can be viewed here.
