POETRY OUT LOUD WINNER NAMED
 
Congratulations to Madison Wilson (lower right) on her selection as the school champion in the annual Poetry Out Loud competition. Madison will represent the school at the state finals in Barre on March 14. Videos of each of the finalists can be watched here.
STEP UP TO CHILDCARE

Are you interested in starting your own home childcare or working in a childcare program? Students in this program will prepare to enter the field as a Teacher Assistant and have the opportunity to earn at least $500 in paid internships at St. Johnsbury School District, Kingdom East School District, Little Dippers Doodle, or Cherry Street Playcare. This program includes CPR/first aid certification, Vermont Online Mandated Reporter Training, the online Vermont Orientation Training, the Primed for Success professional skills curriculum, and the 45 hour Fundamentals for Early Childhood Professionals all in one tuition. This program is made possible through the collaboration of NEKLS, NCCC, Northern Lights, and CCV.

Tuition: $1,200 - Tuition support may be available through VSAC or DOL grants and scholarships.

Vermont Symphony Orchestra Jukebox Quartet

The Vermont Symphony Orchestra (VSO) Jukebox Quartet will team up with the string quartet players from St. Johnsbury Academy for an exciting evening of music-making on Saturday, March 12 at 7:30 in the Stuart Black Box Theater. Curated by VSO Special Projects Chair Matt LaRocca, a Jukebox concert is an innovative and singular experience which the VSO is proud to count as one of its core offerings.

AROUND CAMPUS
Mr. Rowe and the band are getting ready for spring performances.
Physical Education students have been busy with their fitness assessments. Students must participate in nine events that include the 40 yd. dash, mile run, vertical leap, and broad jump.
Students in Mr. Reis’ Watercolor class are working on techniques like blending, masking, pigment to water ratio, and layering of color. Each student selected a nebula that they found to be visually interesting. This project was inspired by the recent successful launch of the Web Telescope.
