The Hilltopper Scholars' Bowl team competed in the first round of the state competition and scored over 100 points in all four rounds. The team will return for the second day of questioning in April. Congratulations to team members Aleksey Strokanov '27, Sam Babcock '24, Phoebe Donn '27, and Vicki Scherer '24.

AROUND CAMPUS

The robotics team is hard at work designing every facet of their robot for the upcoming First Robotic competitions. The season challenge was issued on January 6 and the team has just over two months to complete their tasks by the deadline of March 15.

Students utilized the maker space after school last week to design and create their own personal vinyl stickers.

Students in Mrs. McKenzie's Creative Writing classes and Advanced Creative Writing class attended a workshop with Ethan Bowen, a playwright, actor, director, and producer. He is a visiting artist in conjunction with the Vermont Young Playwrights Festival and has been holding these workshops on campus for more than ten years.

Mrs. Loder and her students are preparing copper plates for their intaglio printmaking experience in Florence, Italy. The group leaves in three weeks!

Mr. Deming's AutoTech students were working on their soldering technique this week.

COMMUNITY UPDATES

Host Families Needed

From March 20 to 29, the Academy will host a group of 30 boys from Kaijo Gakuen. One of the biggest highlights for our guests is the homestay, where each student stays with a local family. Our participating families are delighted to spend time with these polite and hard-working 15-year-old boys who were selected from a long list of applicants. Many friendships have been formed, and many families are still in touch with their guests.

Yearbook Sales

The 2024 edition of The Lamp, SJA's student yearbook, is available for pre-sales through this link. Books will also be available for sale on Spring Day through the Alumni Office.

REMINDER: Seniors will receive a yearbook as part of the Senior Graduation Package.
