Students Attend Norwich University Summit
Mr. Ehrean and a group of students attended Norwich University's Peace and War Summit. This year's theme was "Deciphering the Russian Riddle: National Interests and Geopolitical Competitions." Attendees participated in panels focused on various aspects of Russia's international behavior and internal and external factors that influence it.
Attending the event were Theodora Montague, Max Weber, Liam Markey, Payton Molleur, Wenxu Tang, Eric Chen, William Kimber, Ceylin Sutcu, Zhihao Zhang, Hannah MacDonald, Hannah Angell, Qingyue Li, and Zhe Jiang

SJA Community Rallies Around Ukraine
Earlier this month, the SJA community came together in an effort to support the people of Ukraine. Mr. Ehrean, Director of the Colwell Center for Global Understanding, spoke in Chapel about Ukraine and the current events. Later that week, Mr. Jolliffe spoke about an alum from Ukraine who he is in contact with and shared their struggles just to stay safe on a day-to-day basis.
We ended the week with a Variety Day in which $1,800 was collected and will be
donated to Save the Children. This total represents the largest amount collected on campus in several years.

Brantview Spruce Trees Given New Life
In January 2018, contractors removed eleven over-mature spruce trees from Brantview Lawn, where they had grown for over one hundred years. Safety concerns that the trees would grow weaker and slowly collapse under their weight necessitated their removal and replacement with disease-resistant elm trees. Their removal at that time also meant that the lumber from the trees was still sound enough for building projects.
Those same trees have begun a new life as Capstone podiums four years later.
