HEADMASTER'S MESSAGE
A Visit to St. Johnsbury Academy Jeju
This morning I visited Chapel in South Church, as I try to do once a week, with our 9th graders, soon to be 10th graders. It was a typically various start to the morning; we had announcements from Student Body President Rory Higgs, then I recognized the “CTE Students of the Quarter,” those career and technical education students identified by their teachers to receive special accolades.

Students Earn Math Honors
SJA math students recently participated in the National MathCon contest. A student that scores in the top 5% of their grade level qualifies for the finals in Chicago in early May. Students scoring in the top 10% are selected as alternates and can participate in the finals if there is an opening. Sophomore Suyeon Kim (right) scored in the top 5% and will attend the finals. Students scoring in the top 10% are (l-r): William Eaton '25, Theodora Montague '23, and Yusheng Yan '25.

Greer Kennedy Wins Poetry Out Loud State Title
Junior Greer Kennedy won the Poetry Out Loud state title last week at the Fynn Center. Greer will be traveling to Washington D.C. on May 8-10 to recite "Mr. Darcy", by Victoria Chang; "On the Death of Anne Brontë", by Charlotte Brontë; and "I am Offering This Poem", by Jimmy Santiago Baca in a competition with the other state champions. She will have a Congressional visit during her stay.

Hannah Keithan Recognized as Female Wrestler of the Year
Senior wrestler Hannah Keithan has been recognized as the Female Wrestler of the Year by Green Mountain Grappler, an organization supporting wrestling in the state of Vermont. The award was presented by Blaine Isham ‘73.

Student Art on Display at NVRH
The work of twelve SJA students is part of an art show at the Charles M. and Hanna H. Gray Gallery at Northern Vermont Regional Hospital through May 1. The artists are Hayley Holbrook, Ella Switser, Sophia Karen, Kape Clements, Iris Han, Ryoma Kato, Alan Kennison-Prue, Katie Nadeau, Eli Noel, Cathy Zhang, Yubo Zhang, and Frank Liang. Track Presentation
Members of the Indoor Track team presented the baton from their record-setting race at nationals to the school and Associate Headmaster Lenzini during Chapel this morning. Joining Mr. Lenzini are Nathaniel Bernier '24, Jaden Beardsley '23, Andrew Bugbee '24, Carson Eames '24, Gerardo Fernandez '23, and Andrew Thornton-Sherman '25.

The school's robotics team headed to Springfield, MA, last weekend to compete in the regional First Robotics competition. Due to COVID, the event was the first one that SJA was able to attend since 2019. | With Senior Capstone scheduled for May 5, there's plenty of activity in Mr. Stark's wood shop. Students are working on tables, cabinets, and even a guitar, as part of their final projects. | |
