Valedictorian and Salutatorian Announced


St. Johnsbury Academy is pleased to announce the valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2023. Theodora Montague of St. Johnsbury, Vermont, has been named valedictorian. This year’s salutatorian is Nathan Lenzini, also of St. Johnsbury.

Commencement Speaker Announced


Headmaster Dr. Sharon Howell is happy to announce that Noble F. Allen ’78 will be the 2023 Commencement Speaker.


Noble is an attorney and partner at Hinckley, Allen & Snyder LLP in Hartford, Connecticut, and practices in the areas of litigation, including civil and business litigation, premises liability/insurance claims defense; commercial landlord/tenant law which includes lease disputes and negotiations and lease litigation and evictions. He also practices in United States business immigration law representing U.S. companies in various industries who are looking to obtain visas for foreign workers. He graduated with a B.A. from Norwich University, Corps of Cadets, in 1982, received an M.A. from American University, School of International Service in 1985, and a J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law in 1991.

Latin Honors


SJA was well represented in the recent National Latin Exam, a contest that assesses knowledge of Latin and Roman culture. Earning recognition were (l-r): Alia Davis '25 (Magna Cum Laude), Ava Purdy (Magna Cum Laude) '24, Lennon Daffinrud '26 (Magna Cum Laude), Macy Moore '26 (Magna Cum Laude), Bryn Waring '26 (Maxima Cum Laude and silver medal), Sophia Montague '26 (Maxima Cum Laude and silver medal), Alan Kennison-Prue '23 (Maxima Cum Laude and silver medal), Brooke White '24 (Summa Cum Laude and gold medal)

Supporting NEKCA Warming Shelter


As part of Sophomore Stewardship on Friday, students in Mrs. Stark's and Mrs. Reed's advisories raised $700 to support the Northeast Kingdom Community Action's warming shelter through pledges and donations. The project was called Walk for Warmth - Cozy in the Kingdom and also collected 40 fleece blankets. Ellie Aguirre (holding the sign, left) was the top pledge earner with $132. Mary Lopes (holding the sign, right) was the top lap leader with 18.

National Poetry Out Loud Event


Greer Kennedy '24 represented Vermont this week at the National Poetry Out Loud event in Washington, D.C.

Senior Ella Switser is currently exhibiting her black and white photos at the Charles M. and Hanna H. Gray Gallery at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. Additional information can be viewed here. The exhibit runs through May 22.

Members of the Inner Circle Club relax after school with a game. The club's theme states, "The main goal is to reduce anxiety, improve self-esteem, and help members' sense of well-being though meaningful conversations that not only support each other, but helps us grow."
