Co-Valedictorians and Salutatorian Named

St. Johnsbury Academy announces the co-valedictorians and salutatorian for the Class of 2021. Constance Hammer, of Monroe, NH, and Luke Young-Xu, of North Haverhill, NH, were named co-valedictorians. Nelson Eaton, of Groton, VT, was named salutatorian.

2021 Clear River Review - Slideshow

If you haven't had a chance to view any of the outstanding submissions for this year's Clear River Review, this slide show of all of the photos and artwork is well worth the time. The show includes audio files of the artists describing their processes and the writers reading passages from their essays, poems, and novels. The slide show can be viewed on our web-site.
Judges Choice Award

Photography students Sophia Stark, Marcella Milne, Polly Currier, Katie Cushing, Cailin Hammond, and Olivia George were selected by their instructor, Rosie Prevost, to compete in the Congressional Art Awards. 

Junior Marcella Milne won a Judges Choice Award for her photograph titled "Contemplation" (above).  This year marks the 40th edition of the nationwide event initiated in 1981 by then-Rep. Jim Jeffords of VT to celebrate and encourage the artistic talent of young people from across the country. This year had a record turnout with 160 submissions. All Vermont students who participated in the contest have been offered automatic admission to the Vermont Governor's Institute on the Arts.
Driver's Ed Program Receives Donated Electric Car

St. Johnsbury Academy took delivery last week of a brand-new 2021 Chevrolet Bolt— donated by the Autosaver Group. The fully electric vehicle will be used by the school’s driver’s education program. Present for the delivery were (l-r); Abel Toll, Owner of the Autosaver Group, SJA’s Driver’s Ed Instructor Gary Thornton, St. Johnsbury Buick GMC Business Development Manager Allen Komisarek, St. Johnsbury Buick GMC General Manager Chris Havey, SJA's Stewardship Director James Bentley, and SJA junior Josie Sestito, who made the announcement of the donation as part of her Earth Day Chapel Talk.

Mr. Reis' students had a great view down the valley, above the athletic fields, for plein air painting this week.
As part of Teacher Appreciation Week, Noah Morse, Jack Henderson, Ben Morse, and some of the other students in Mr. Hartshorn’s Friday Focus Group spent part of the morning on Friday serving pancakes, bacon, and muffins to faculty and staff.
