Host Families Needed

From March 20 - 29, SJA will host 30 boys from our partner school in Tokyo, Japan. Each 15-year-old boy will stay with a host family. This is a great opportunity for your child to learn about another culture and develop their skills as a host and representative of our community. It's also a chance to have a lot of fun and to make a new friend. There is a modest stipend for participating families. If you're interested in hosting, please reach out to Glenn Ehrean at glenn.ehrean@stjacademy.org.

AROUND CAMPUS

Photos from the Spirit Week Parade can be found here. Pep Chapel photos are here, and campus photos are here.

Ms. Angell’s Forensic Science classes visited The Rocks in Bethlehem, NH, where students got to see one of Frances Glessner Lee’s original Nutshell Studies — the famous miniature crime scenes used to train investigators.

In class, students have been learning about crime scene investigation and recently created their own miniature crime scene boxes inspired by Glessner Lee’s work. Visiting The Rocks brought their studies to life with a closer look at the real history behind forensic science!

Students in Mr. Eckhardt’s World Civilization classes learned about the Columbian Exchange by creating menus that feature dishes combining Old World and New World ingredients.

Students in Chef B's Intro to Culinary class are baking pizzas in the Streeter Hall kitchen.

The Hilltopper Restaurant opens today, and Chef Andre, Mrs. Libbey, and the students have been working hard all semester. Service will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays with seatings at 11:30, 11:45, and 12:00.

Students in Mr. McKinnon’s physics classes are testing their engineering and problem-solving skills by building and racing mousetrap-powered cars.

ATHLETICS

Photos from the Cross Country State Championships can be viewed here. The SJA boy's team finished in the runners-up spot to CVU while the girls finished in sixth place.

Varsity Football celebrated the seniors before Saturday night's game. Photos from the night are available here.

Varsity Girls' Soccer advanced in the play-offs with a win over Mount Anthony last week. Photos from the game can be viewed here.

NBA skills trainer Drew Hanlen, who works with stars like Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, and Tyrese Haliburton, led a sold-out basketball clinic at St. Johnsbury Academy on Sunday. More than 150 young athletes from across Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom joined Hanlen for a day of elite instruction, inspiration, and skill development. Hanlen praised the players’ coachability and said he “loved the community,” promising to return to St. Johnsbury for future sessions.
