The Simple Pleasure of a Good Laugh

 

As we head toward a four-day weekend, our much-appreciated October Break, let’s recall the simple pleasure of a good laugh. There is good research about the short- and long-term benefits of laughter to our health. As long ago as 1976 (ancient history to our students), author Norman Cousins swore that watching Marx Brothers movies and reading humor contributed to his successful fight against cancer–and the New England Journal of Medicine took him seriously.

AROUND CAMPUS

Students gathered in South Church Hall to process produce for the local food shelves. So far this year students have prepared over 500 pounds of produce. 

Caligraphy was on the schedule at last week's meeting of the Asian Culture Club.

Students at The Hilltopper are busy preparing for the opening of the restaurant. 

The Field Semester class brought their classroom to campus last week and made fresh cider to share between blocks. 

Modern Dance students caught in the act of moving through space.

Ms. Darling's Fashion I students displayed their handmade tote bags, produced with 100% recycled materials, in the lobby of Morse last week.

Both Boys' and Girls' Cross Country teams captured first place at Tuesday's NVAC Mountain Division League meet. Photos from the races will be posted to SmugMug later this week.
