Universal Property & Casualty -
 Step Up For Students

On Tuesday, Dec. 4th, Saint Joan of Arc students from grades 5 - 8 had a few special guests from Universal Property & Casualty and Step Up For Students. The company, Universal Property & Casualty, presented a generous donation to the Step Up For Students Scholarship program which 62 of our own Saint Joan of Arc students benefit from. The school accepted the donation on behalf of Step Up For Students.  Without it, these students would not have the opportunity to have a Catholic education here. The school heard from Joe Pfountz, the Chief Financial Officer of Step Up For Students, Steve Donaghy, the Chief Operating Officer for Universal Property & Casualty, and another special guest, Dan Marino, who spoke about his education experience and answered the students' sports questions. The Choir and Bells Choir performed and Alejandra Pacheco, a current 7th grader, spoke about her experience at St. Joan of Arc.
Mrs. Dickenson, our 5th grade home teacher, graduated from Nova Southeastern University’s High School and participated heavily in the arts. Every 10 years there is an alumni reunion show. They have several special alumni who participate in the show including Josh Gad, who is Olaf from Frozen. They graduated and performed together over the years. Josh will hopefully be returning if not in person via live video in the show on Dec 23, at 7:00 pm, is the show at NSU’s Arts Center. Mrs. Dickenson has several solos and group numbers. She will be opening the show and closing the show with solo performances. We would love to have Mrs. Dickenson's St. Joan of Arc School's Drama Program students come see Mrs. Dickenson. Please see the link below to purchase tickets:   https://m.ovationtix.com/pe/10330107
We are looking for volunteers for St. Joan of Arc's 4th Annual Career Day on January 28th, 2019! If you are interested in presenting, please contact Miss Bryant at bryant _ valerie@stjoan.org

Cub Scouts Corner

St. Joan of Arc’s Pack 323 Cub Scouts had an exciting start to this school year, as we welcomed back familiar faces and added new members to our Pack. This fall, Pack 323 participated in their annual Raingutter Regatta Pack meeting where they built and raced their own sailboats. In addition, they participated in the annual Scouting for Food event held on the first two Saturdays in November. Their good turn daily consisted of hanging donation bags on the first Saturday of the event. The Scouts followed this up by collecting the bags filled with food for the needy one week later. Scouting for Food started in 1988 as a national Good Turn event, allowing Scouting to do something huge to help America. It has taken place every year and collected millions of pounds of food to help the needy. Pack 323 collected 337 pounds of food! The Scouts and their families were also busy enjoying camping this season with a Fall Family Campout at the Scout Reservation in Tequesta and an overnight adventure at the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium in West Palm Beach. Way to go Scouts!
