The Essential 55 - Rules 7 & 8

Rule 7:  When you cough or sneeze or burp, it is appropriate to turn your head away from others and cough into the bend of your arm. You may use your hand if it is covered with a tissue. Using a fist is not acceptable. Afterward, you should say, "Excuse me."

-If you often sneeze or cough, you should wash your hands as much as possible.

-We say, "God bless you," when someone sneezes and in Germany you say, "Gesundheit." That means, "Good health to you."

Rule 8:  Do not smack your lips, tsk, roll your eyes, or show disrespect with gestures.

Sometimes you don't have to say a single word in order to get yourself in a lot of trouble.

Being gracious about being disciplined means there should not be further consequences.

Students should know exactly what is expected of them in terms of their gestures and attitude, and ensuring they are aware of the consequences for those behaviors, is the best way to avoid those actions.
We would like to thank all our parents for supporting our Coupon Book Sale. The Special Projects Office delivered all the Coupon Books on Parent Night with the exception of some new families that are being processed at the present time. All families who made donations in lieu of books will receive a donation tax letter with your child/children’s Dress Down Passes within the week. These letters will be mailed on Friday, August 23.

If any families are interested in ordering additional books for Palm Beach or Broward Counties, please contact our office and fill out the order form with your payment. If your families live out of these counties or in another state, please refer to the website: http://www.supportourgroups.com/GN/238563/referral and please use your child’s name in order that we may track and give credit to your family.

Remember, we are offering incentives to anyone selling extra books. If you sell 16 books, your child will receive a No Homework Pass. If you sell 24 or more books, your child will have a chance to play the money game. The highest overall seller will get to be PE Coach for a Day and win Movie Tickets for the whole family.  Thank you again for supporting this successful fundraiser that helps the school. Any questions, please contact Special Projects at 561-952-2848 or 2846.

As we celebrate our 60 th  Parish Anniversary –which is a diamond anniversary, and tying in perfectly with our St. Joan of Arc S.H.I.N.E. theme:
“Our souls should be like a transparent crystal through which God can be perceived…”
- St. Teresa of Calcutta
"Like a diamond, you too are God’s treasure formed from the foundations of the earth.  Changing us from carbon to a diamond is God’s plan for us.   You are his workmanship, brilliantly fashioned and formed.  God has a special plan for you and purpose for you right here.  We all know diamonds are formed under intense pressure.  Every problem, conflict, trial, hardship and opposing force is shaping and polishing your brilliance.   Let’s shine and let God shine through us this school year!"

Daidone Dining Lunch Service
Thank you for welcoming our new Food Services Staff and for being so enthusiastic as we aim to provide "cleaner" food with non GMO ingredients.
Chef David enjoyed meeting your children this week! Our students received tons of compliments for being so well-mannered with the cafeteria staff.
Reminders for our new Food Services Company - Daidone Dining:
1. Instructions to create an account.  Click on the button below.
If you have any questions regarding your account, please email Daidone Dining directly at   [email protected]
2. Cost: $4.50 for Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 and $5.25 for Kindergarten through 8th grade *Please note you can get extra snacks at lunch and during Extended Care.   So you can avoid surprises,   discuss with your child how much money they are allowed to spend on snacks and what types of items you will allow them buy.
3. We encourage your family to go through the menu prior to each month or week in order to facilitate the process. With your cooperation, we will waste less food, keep the price cost per meal lower, and make the lunch line flow more quickly. You have the opportunity to choose your child’s meal all the way up  until just before 9 am of the day  you would like hot lunch served. If you don't choose a menu beforehand, the student who wants lunch will automatically be served the main entree of the day in lieu of getting to choose one of the meal options.

2 . Two packages of Transparency Film (sheets) for Copiers

These can be placed in my mailbox labeled "Chandelier Project"

Protocol for
Conference Request

Please do not engage in a conference impromptu meeting with your child's teacher during dismissal. It's of utmost importance for the teacher to have her full attention on all the children for safety purposes.
I f you have a concern, please contact the teacher and then if further discussion is needed, contact the main office to request to speak with the assistant principal.
If the issue is still not resolved, request
a meeting with the principal via
the main office. Thank you!

As stated in the 2019-20 Parent/Student Handbook, every parent is required to volunteer a minimum of
10 service hours, per family, for the school year. Failure to do so will result in a $100.00 charge to your account for each hour not completed.

Thank you for your much valued help.
St. Joan of Arc had a dress down day on Friday, Sept. 6th to raise money to support the Hurricane Dorian relief efforts for the Bahamas. Students wore colors of the Bahamian flag while others wore souvenir shirts that they had gotten from the Bahamas. The families of SJA were very generous - we raised $2,500! Thank you to everyone who donated.
Miss Bryant, our guidance counselor, created and led scavenger hunts for the new middle school students during the Activities periods. Volunteer "veteran" students helped the new students navigate through the school with clues gathered from QR codes on the iPads. The clues were linked to a Google site page where students had to unscramble letters or solve riddles to figure out their next clue. All the clues led them to the library where they competed in Kahoot and Socrative Space Races to answer fun facts about the school. Thank you to those volunteer students who SHINE by helping others! A special thanks goes out to Mr. Wayne and Ms. Novoa for their assistance as well.
