Hello Robin,

Thank you to everyone who supported the Seniors Job Bank through the Travelers Championship's Birdies for Charity program!

As a small nonprofit, we are honored to stand alongside so many impactful organizations and grateful for the opportunity to raise funds to support our mission.

Thanks to your generosity, we raised $13,510 to help us expand our services into more neighborhoods through our Bridging Communities: Expanding Into Your Neighborhood initiative.

Your contributions empower the Seniors Job Bank to connect individuals over 50 with meaningful full-time, part-time, temporary, and volunteer job opportunities—supporting active, engaged aging across Greater Hartford.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and donations are always welcome. Your ongoing support allows us to continue making a difference in the lives of mature workers and the communities they serve. To learn more about our work or to contribute, please visit our website.

With sincere thanks,

Get to Know the SJB Team

Mary Ellen Porter,

SJB Bookkeeper

I became involved with SJB because the gentleman who preceded me 30 years ago as the West Hartford Youth Soccer League administrator had originally gotten his position through the Bank. He spoke very highly of their placements, so I've been connected for a number of years (after I turned 50).

Some of my gigs involved helping people get comfortable with their laptop, attending organ concerts at Trinity College as a companion, and working with an artist wanting to upload her paintings for a juried show. The jobs have been very different, but all rewarding. Now, I am the bookkeeper for SJB.

My favorite thing about the Seniors Job Bank is staying connected and active on a part-time basis while doing something enjoyable!

SJB Helps Combat Ageism

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, by 2030, 1 in 5 Americans will be 65 or older, representing a significant shift in demographics.

A recent article in AARP's newsletter about fighting age discrimination noted that in 2020-2024 Connecticut was among the states with the fewest age discrimination complaints to the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The Seniors Job Bank actively advocated for legislation contributing to our state's favorable ranking.

The Seniors Job Bank is proud to connect skilled mature workers with employers who value their experience and talents.

Community Feedback!

It is refreshing to hear about a wonderful service that benefits seniors, the community at large, and our economy.  We wish you continued success in assisting seniors in finding meaningful work and/or volunteer opportunities. Thanks for helping to keep seniors engaged.
