In case you missed it, this past Sunday the St. John’s Church family celebrated Lee Gray’s 23 years of service as St. John’s Youth Minister. As you all know, Lee has now assumed his new ministerial role focusing on congregational care and we are excited for him and this new opportunity. But we would be remiss if we did not reflect on the impact Lee has had on all the youth that have benefited and been nurtured by his ministry.
Over the past several weeks representatives from the Youth Resource Team and the Personnel Resource Team collaborated to reach out and obtain short video messages of thanks and congratulations from many of the youth that were taught by Lee over the years. During Sunday’s worship service you saw a short preview of a video compilation of all these messages. You can view that video if you click here. A longer version of this tribute will be shared in the near future.
Through the generous contributions from current youth, youth alum, past and present youth parents and the church family at large, a new electronic scoreboard is being purchased for our gym and will be donated to the church in Lee’s honor. This is a fitting tribute. Over the years Lee has helped make St. John’s basketball a vibrant ministry. This gift, dedicated in his honor, both recognizes Lee and enhances the experience for our own teams and for basketball visitors to our gym. Installation will be coordinated with the vendor. We will celebrate the unveiling when we are able to return in greater numbers to the church.
Again, thank you Lee for all that you have done for our Youth and we wish you much success in your new congregational care ministry!

Worship on September 27th
This Sunday morning we will recognize Good Neighbor Sunday. Our scriptures will be Deuteronomy 15:7-11 and Mark 12:28-34, and Rev. Dennis Foust will share a message titled, "Making Every Day a Beautiful Day." On this Sunday we will focus on our Missional partners with whom we collaborate to be good neighbors.
"Please won't you be, my neighbor?"
The worship video will be available at 8 am via our YouTube channel and at our website under the Worship tab for you to view. You can also link to worship from the Realm Connect App Events list.

Gathered Church Opportunities
We miss one another. Although we are still being cautious, with temperatures moderating, we have planned four opportunities for the people of St. John’s to gather outdoors at the church on Sundays, October 11, 18, 25 and November 1.
Two of these gathering dates will be focused on fellowship and two on vespers.
It will be necessary for each person to be pre-registered to attend. You will also need to bring your own folding chairs and tables for you and your family or a picnic blanket so that we can maintain appropriate physical distancing. We also encourage masks to be worn as well – except while eating of course. Trash cans will be provided for those days with food available and we ask that you only stay on the church campus for the time you have registered.
Click on the green buttons below to Register.
You may also register via Realm and the Connect App under Events.

Do You Need to Conduct a Meeting Via Zoom?
All of our church meetings and events have gone online and this fall will see an increase in events that need Zoom access. If you are a ministry leader and need to conduct a meeting or event via Zoom, contact a minister to assist with setting up your meeting. The general church calendar is available here to review scheduled meetings and events. Once a minister has set up the meeting link in Zoom, it will be available to participants invited in the Realm Connect App and Online. Zoom meetings and events that are open to the entire church will be shared via email.
